- both of them had considered kids together . for dante in particular , he never brought it up : he didn’t want to bring a child of nephilim descent into the world when he’s already fighting angels & demons alike on his own . the thought of anyone trying to do to kat and their kid what mundus did to his family pisses him off to no end . kat held similar fears , but was more open to voicing the desire to one day have their own family . she knew the risk would be too great until things calmed down . her own issues with her parental situation always served as motivation to break the cycle , raise a child with love and care neither of them could fully receive .
- the pregnancy was , of course , unplanned . failed birth control . kat was experiencing problems , took a test , and after seeing it was almost positive … took another ten . she wanted to be positive before she told dante . they were happy , and kat view it as something that was meant to be , but they feared what would occur if they were found out .
- dante’s always been worried about kat to begin with , but when she’s pregnant , his watchful eye doubles . he keeps himself awake 24/7 drinking energy drinks to make sure everything’s okay : az put it as he gets a “ mad caffeine addiction “ during the pregnancy .
- before nero’s birth , dante tried to knit a blanket for nero using tons and tons of youtube tutorials . it’s uneven , and a little scrunched , but it was a work of love . he used black fabric .
- kat wanted to have a natural birth , no epidural . dante hated seeing her in so much pain : given she’s a human giving birth to a nephilim mix , dante feared it’d be even more painful for her . dante actually held some frustrations during the birth , as seeing her like that brought his memories back to when she was taken by mundus . it caused him to — something he hates to admit — hold some frustrations with nero at first . it washed away as soon as he saw their little boy , of course .
- it took until the birth for them to decide the name . when they first put nero in the blanket , dante suggested the name nero , believing their kid needed a cool name , too . kat liked the sound of it .
- they spoil ! the fuck ! out of nero ! they want him to have all the things they couldn’t have .
- dante sleeps with kat and nero every night , wrapped tightly in his arms . he kisses them both and tells them that he loves them and would never let anything happen to them . every night , it’s the same exact words .
- when nero is older , dante trains him with the sword & guns , and makes sure he knows it’s okay if nero doesn’t want any part of his nephilim abilities while training him on how to use them . kat tries to teach nero some basic spells and mixes , mostly for protection and good health . they both worry for him , but know he will be ready if something were to happen .
- nero mostly takes after dante in terms of personality . they share the vulgarity , sass , and the temper they can both display .
