LOOK AT THIS LIL FELLA
RETAIL RANT
for context: i work at an expensive (imo), “near-luxury” retail store. and we’re so behind on shipment because of supply chain shortages so the store itself doesn’t have a lot of sizes readily available. so we always recommend for shoppers to buy online with an associate so we can ship items to customers for free.
my problem that irked me so much i had to rant: one thing our managers always trained us on is if a customer wants an outfit (a top, bottom, or wtv) that’s on a mannequin, we have to check our stock so we don’t have to undress the freaking statue. but this one customer was so adamant she wanted the entire outfit and they were our last of each time (a blouse and a skirt). and i was like “okay i’ll take it down for ya no worries” and then i asked if she was gonna purchase it (bc im not gonna haul a 20-30 lb mannequin up and undress it, then have to haul it around the store trying to redress it. and quite frankly, removing dresses/skirts off mannequins with legs is so hard for no reason at all). she said yes she was gonna purchase it for sure so i gave it to her after putting censors on them. and she said she was gonna look around still. my coworker found the entire outfit thrown over a stack of clothes in the back and was like “where does this go?” 😩🙄 and i was gonna implode bc i already redressed the freaking mannequin and my manager was like we gotta out the original outfit back on before regional managers come in to inspect. so i took down the mannequin, undressed it, redressed it, pinned the clothes to fit the body, and put it back up.
moral of the story, please don’t ask sales associates to remove clothes off mannequins if you have absolutely no intention of purchasing. for one thing, those mf are so heavy and it’s so hard to put clothes on and off them. on top of that, i was the only brand rep assigned to register so i had to freaking do all that to the mannequin AND take care of our line.
i am so tired and my arms and back hurt🥺
anyways, thanks for reading this rant if you read it. enjoy this picture of Chris Evans.
i like to imagine this is his face after listening to me rant about my day.
love y’all. hope y’all had a good day!
If my cashier job is "something anyone can do" because I get paid minimum wage, why do I get 363,473,262 complaints a day from boomers about how the coupons on the app are just "too hard", and how self checkout is just too confusing??? Like I should get $25 an hour just for the 4 years of acting classes I took to not throttle the 4th old guy today who tells me he thinks red heads are hot. Let alone just dealing with the over 40 crowd that still uses checks and gets mad at me when the computer I'm forced to fight with doesn't take it because they've never used one at the gd grocery store before.
"Be kind to retail workers, they're probably not paid nearly enough to put up with this," is a statement that shouldn't have to be said, but I am saying it because it's true.
Getting on a cashiers case for something out of their control or leaving them with more unneeded while most retail establishments are understaffed helps nobody and just makes things harder for someone who's probably working for $7-9 an hour at least.
After 4 1/2 years of work abuse, I finally got a new job somewhere new... but why do I still feel unhappy?! Why do I feel like I’m going to go through the same bad stuff??? Why do I feel like I’m still not where I’m supposed to be?!?!?! Why can’t I feel like I belong?!
Retail Rants: Flirting
Here’s a hot tip, people.
A check-out register at a grocery store is not the place to ask someone out. It’s not that kind of check out.
The dead-eyed cashier is not going to be flattered by your pick-up lines. You’re just going to make them more resentful about coming into work if they have to deal with you more than once. You are making people uncomfortable.
Use a dating app.
Please for the love of God shop for your food and get out. You don't need to browse the store for 2 hours, this is not the time for that. If you stay home you lessen the spread. DAMN IT!
Y'all I-
I got little to no sleep last night, came downstairs in hopes to talk and rant a little with my mom, shes usually nice and let's me, but as I sat down and she asked me how was work, she slowly turned the tv up, ignoring me.
I was gonna tell her I work a whole ass week, that's how they scheduled me, but thankfully a lady I work with was willing to switch a day with me so now I only work six days in a row. I'm not mad, they really haven't been giving me hours, so this is nice to be able to finally get paid. All at the same time, I'm having a h a r d time falling asleep at night.
All the days I'm working is nightshift, I'm going to be t i r e d, and I'm already feeling tired after the first night lol.
Guy's, if you can, avoid working retail. Great for experience, but not worth your mental health. Overall, dealing with people all day is just not worth it, people kinda suck. Especially those that think they can attempt to be sexist, god the amount of sexist people.
I'm tired. Sorry for the rant. Work sucks. Money doesn't suck.
