The Places That Change Us - Volume I
There are places we visit.
And then there are places that somehow visit us. They slip beneath our skin. They rearrange something within us. They show us parts of ourselves that were always there, maybe waiting for enough distance, silence, enough beauty—or enough courage—to be remembered.
I have travelled across four continents and ten countries, stood before ancient stones and sacred temples, crossed oceans, climbed into hammocks, rolled out yoga mats in unfamiliar places, and watched the horizon from lands very far from the one where my story began.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped thinking about travel as simply going somewhere. I began thinking about what happens to us when we get there.
That’s where Sacred Elsewhere began.
As a feeling.
Not as a business plan.
The feeling of stepping outside the architecture of your ordinary life long enough to hear yourself again. The feeling of moving your body in the morning and realizing how much it has carried for you. Of sitting beside someone who was once a stranger and discovering that vulnerability has a remarkable way of shortening distances. Of laughing until your stomach hurts. Of doing something that scares you. Of standing beneath water and imagining everything you no longer need being carried downstream. Of remembering that healing doesn’t always have to look serious.
Sometimes healing looks like movement. Sometimes it looks like adventure. Sometimes it looks like friendship. Sometimes it looks like dancing beneath a waterfall. And sometimes we have to travel somewhere else to remember something that was inside us all along.
Sacred Elsewhere is being built around four ideas that I believe create the conditions for meaningful experiences.
Connection—to ourselves, to each other, to culture, to nature and to the places generous enough to receive us.
Healing—not as a promise that a retreat will somehow fix our lives, but as the creation of space. Space to breathe. To move. To rest. To release. To listen.
Adventure—because growth needs curiosity. Because there should be laughter and ridiculous stories and moments when we surprise ourselves.
And transformation—not the manufactured kind that tells us we must return home as entirely different people.
The quieter kind. The kind where something shifts. A boundary becomes clearer. A friendship becomes deeper. A body feels more like home. A possibility that once seemed distant suddenly feels imaginable. That is the kind of travel I want Sacred Elsewhere to create.
I want us to practice yoga and pilates, aerial fitness and breathwork—but I also want us to eat beautiful food, learn from local traditions, explore, laugh, get uncomfortable sometimes, be awestruck often, and experience places with reverence rather than simply consuming them. I want there to be room for the sacred and the silly. For introspection and adventure. For solitude and friendship. For the moments we plan—and the ones we never could have.
Because I don’t believe transformation happens because we escape our lives.
I think it happens when we step outside them just long enough to see them differently. And then we bring something home.A practice, a memory, a friendship. A little more courage or a little le more softness. A story we will still be telling years later.
Sacred Elsewhere is only beginning. There are places that I can’t wait to take you. But more than that, there are experiences I cannot wait to create with you. So maybe this isn’t actually a travel blog, it’s a collection of stories about movement—across countries, through bodies, between people, and into the versions of ourselves we haven’t met yet.
Welcome to Sacred Elsewhere.
Let’s C.H.A.T.
Connect. Heal. Adventure. Transform. Every now and then, travel far enough away to remember who you are.
