i made my first ever reusable cotton pad!

Just for me, not for selling/donating/etc. I'm just a sewing-baby and I'm taking a free sewing 'class' (unstructured but still really helpful since there's somebody to troubleshoot with me and give experienced tips).

The shape and stitching are janky and I need to figure out how to adjust the bobbin tension on my machine (brother cs6000i btw if anyone has tips). It's only the third thing I've ever sewn. It has a Zorb core and PUL layer hidden inside, and the top and bottom are cottons I had leftover from the pajama shorts I made a long time ago. Behold!

what's your opinion on reusable cloth pads/moon cups? do you use them? i've found that using these products instead of disposable ones has even saved me heaps of money!!!

omg anon!!!!I love them!! I have used a Diva Cup for about 5 years now and I just recently bought a Sckoon Cup! They are great and I also got a reusable pad from them too. I like the Sckoon cup best because it’s super soft and I find it’s hardly noticeable. But yes it has saved me tons of money too! On top of it’s better for your body/health and you’re not throwing tampons and pads in a landfill :) Glad you enjoy them as much as me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If anyone has any questions let me know because they are life changing for people who get periods!

I’ve got a whole lot of organic cotton tampons to get through before trying out a menstrual cup but I have been using a reusable cloth pad for overnight. there’s clips to hold in place and in the morning I just give it a rinse in warm water, hang it out to dry and reuse that night. after my period I just chuck it in the wash. it’s made out of organic cotton and the packaging out of recyclable paper. women have their period for an average of 37 years which is around 400 cycles. that’s a whole lot of disposable tampons and pads 🦋
