So here’s what you need to do over this long holiday weekend if you’re in America, and what you just need to take the time to do if you live anywhere else.
You’re gonna read this lovely KevEdd story told in FOUR lovely parts.
First, Kevin and Edd meet in the early 90s. Times weren’t kind to us in the family back in then. They may be better now, but you can’t forget your roots. Especially when they make us who we are today.
Then Alice falls down a rabbit hole. But rabbit holes are full of twists and turns, places to hide, and many more to be found and so many in which to find who you, your friends, and family truly are.
And as always, from the past springs the present and it is truly a gift that keeps on giving.
It’s love.
And all is well*.
*drama, angst, tragedy, and shenanigans may apply!
Author’s Note: This is the last installment in a short series that I started to deal with my feelings on the fact that the President of the United States of America is a terrible person.
When read in order, the series reads like this:
Presidential
Presidential: Reaching Across the Aisle
Presidential: A Lover’s Congress (This story! Just hit the Keep Reading to keep reading!)
Presidential: A Bipartisan Proposal
Each of the exclusives and drabble are all alluded to in the main story. But you know how I do. Gotta flesh it all out and give you more!
So here’s more!
Presidential: A Lover’s Congress
“Hey, Mr Barr!,” Tommy called out to him.
Kevin gave the security guard a smile and a head nod as he walked through the Capital’s front doors, then placed his wallet, keys, and cell phone in the small box that went through the x-ray machine.
“Where’s -?”
“I’m taking him home tonight,” Kevin grinned, but his eyes held his determination to get Eddward out of the capital and back home during this current recess.
“Good luck,” Brent groaned as he looked at the screen that was scanning Kevin’s things.
“When was the –?,” Kevin almost asked as he looked at the two security guards who both quickly looked away. “You know what? Never mind, I don’t want to know,” he huffed as he pocketed his things and headed to the elevators.
He had to smile, though, as the two security guards fussed at each other over who was going to be in the biggest trouble with the congressman for letting him know that his boyfriend hadn’t left the building in only God knows how long. It let him know that someone was keeping an eye on the man and cared about the one who cared way too much about them all.
He silently cursed Eddward’s office being in the same building as the state’s congressional chambers. And then there was the maze of buildings that connected through various underground and covered above ground passageways. The man didn’t have to leave the giant campus that made up the state’s capital administrative buildings if he didn’t want to.
The problem in Kevin’s mind was that Eddward never wanted to leave when Congress was in session.
He made it a point to let all of his constituents know when his office hours were, what committees he sat on, and to just stop by and see how things worked for them as he worked for them all.
Which meant he never left work.
And sometimes, it showed.
He would get so wound up in how things looked on paper, or over analyzed sound bites, that Kevin wondered what sort of alternate reality he lived in when he wasn’t home with him.
“Get out, Edd!,” he’d plead with the man.
Eddward always thought he was concerned about his getting some sunlight and fresh air as Kevin was always getting on him about such things, but Kevin knew that if the man didn’t get out and connect with the people as regularly as he did when Congress was on recess, even if they were just the people who lived in the capital, he’d lose that feel for how things really were for his constituents back home.
“If you really want to help them, you’ll get out there and breathe a little with them,” he would counter to Eddward’s protests that his connections to his constituents were just fine, thank you very much.
And every time he came to visit, he’d see by the security guards reactions to his visits that Eddward may or may not have taken him up on his advice.
Especially if he showed up empty handed.
He was known for bringing lunch or dinner to his man and the office as a whole, but empty handed Kevin meant Eddward was going to leave the building whether he liked it or not.
And Brent’s reaction let him know that if he had to carry Eddward to the car, he would.
Bridal style, even!
When he got to his man’s office door, he saw it was open, but the office itself was dimly lit, which meant his staff was gone for the night.
Knocking, he walked inside and gave a nod to Todd, Eddward’s head security guard when he was at the capital, who was standing at the door to Eddward’s private office, and the man took his leave as Kevin walked into the private space, only to be stopped by Eddward holding his hand up to him as he cradled the phone between his neck and shoulder and took a few notes with his other hand.
“That’s right, Mayor. But I can only do it on the recess so it’s going to have to be a quick lunch because I do have other people to see…Of course! I’ll be there with bells on! Haha! Yes, yes…My love to your wife and kids. I’ll see you soon. Goodbye.”
As soon as the parting words left his lips, Kevin yanked the phone from his hand and pressed his lips to Eddward’s own. When Eddward hummed a bit into the kiss, Kevin dropped the phone, grabbed his tie, and pulled him in closer so he could take the kiss deeper.
And Eddward moaned as he did so.
He’d ravished him silly on his desk right then if he didn’t need to breathe, but that moan took his breath away and made him dizzy.
The politician just gently cupped his face in his hands and kissed his nose as he said, “Hey, there,” when Kevin broke the kiss to get his wind back.
“Hey.”
Eddward grinned at his blown away stare til he saw that he was empty handed.
“You’re not staying?”
“No, and neither are you,” Kevin said as he came back to life, hung up the phone, went behind Eddward’s desk, grabbed his suit jacket off the back of his chair, and tossed it over his shoulder. “Up,” he told him as he pulled him up and out of the chair by his wrists. “We’re going home.”
Eddward nearly protested, but his stomach had other ideas.
Kevin gave him a slightly disappointed stare and sighed.
“I’m not even going to ask, but since you’re talking to mayors, I can take that to mean that you know that you actually have to leave the building to go see them?,” Kevin asked sarcastically as he turned Eddward away from him and put his suit jacket over his shoulders.
“Yes, I know that I have to leave the building, I just wasn’t expecting to leave tonight is all,” Eddward huffed as he pulled the jacket on, then turned to his computer to save a few files and shut it off.
“Then when?!”
“Tomorrow, because that’s when I’m going to Fayetteville,” Eddward sighed.
“Then what?”
Eddward looked up to see that Kevin was looking at him with ignored puppy dog eyes.
“Then home,” the raven said gently before gathering up the files on his desk, filing a few away in their respective drawers and packing the rest into his briefcase.
“Oh,” Kevin said quietly, feeling a trife silly for thinking that Eddward wouldn’t be planning to come home without him having to drag him there.
Eddward always came home on the recess. In his own way, of course.
“Yes,” Eddward smiled, “and I am going to be reviewing a few things this recess, but I don’t have anything other than Mayor Bronson’s lunch planned, so I’m all yours,” he whispered in his ear as he made his way to the door.
Kevin stared at him as he walked away, unable to believe that he was going to have two weeks of Eddward to himself.
But his own growling stomach brought him back to earth and he quickly jogged to the door to take Eddward’s hand and bring him home.
They stopped to eat at their favorite German pub in town and then grabbed coffee from Eddward’s favorite coffee shop before making the two hour drive back home.
They caught each other up on how life was without the other over dinner and the drive home, which was always a good thing because as soon as they walked in the door, they were both ready to just crash and sleep for forever.
Reunions were always like this.
A big information dump from one to the other and back again, sleep for a good twelve hours and then try to a find a quick rhythm to live in before Eddward went back to the capital for a few more months.
But tonight, Kevin had suggested a stop to the coffee shop to grab some caffeine because he wanted Eddward alert when they got home and saw what was waiting for him in their shared office.
Eddward took a big deep breath in and let it out slowly as soon as he walked in the door like he always did and the day melted away.
The house could have been a disaster, and he’d still been happy to walk through it all because it was their home and their disaster and he was happy to share it with the redhead.
Kevin understood and supported him like no one else did. To be able to come back to home with him, made the months away worth it.
He ran his hand on the counters as he walked through the kitchen and to their breakfast nook to take a quick whiff of the wildflowers Kevin always made sure were there when he came home. But instead of letting him just wander around the house so he could become reacquainted with it like he usually did, Kevin came behind him as he went over the mail, kissed his cheek, grabbed his hand and led him to their shared office in the back of the house.
“Got something I want to show ya,” he said as he led him along.
Eddward didn’t do anything but cock his head when Kevin turned the office light on and he saw the large, flat, square package sitting in his desk chair which was in the middle of the room.
The package was wrapped up in plain brown paper with Marie’s return address and covered in stamps.
“Didn’t Lee get her a stamp machine?,” he asked as he walked towards the package and picked it up so he could look it over and figure out the best way to open it.
“I think so,” Kevin snorted. “But you know how she is.”
Eddward rolled he eyes as he found a corner to stick his finger in and tore the paper cross ways. And as it fell away, home was looking back at them.
It was a simple watercolor landscape painting of Peach Creek as seen from its highest point at sunrise.
Never had he seen where they came from and who he did all this for look so beautiful.
He was there with her when she took the picture.
They were just kids then and he was going through the internal struggle of coming to terms with who he was. He figured if he brought her up to that spot, and told her how he was really feeling, maybe she would try to convince him that he was just being silly because she was a Kanker and he was an Ed and them being together was just how things were supposed to be.
Of the three Kanker girls, she was the toughest, and she would be the one to make him do the right thing because God forbid he went against her and what was natural.
Except she didn’t.
She hugged him and told him that it was ok for him to feel that way.
Then she took a picture of the scene before them with her phone and said, “New day, new you.”
He came out to everyone else at lunch and by dinner his mother was staying with her sister.
He went back up to that hilltop as the sun started to set and never felt so free.
Next to the day he told Kevin he’d have him, it was the best damn day of his life because it was the first damn day of his life.
He renewed his commitment to himself that day to make sure that he could help as many of his fellow citizens to have the best damn day of their lives every day and now he was living it.
And she remembered.
“’A New Day,’” Kevin read as he looked at the simple title plate at the bottom of the frame the picture was in.
“Yeah,” Eddward smiled. “It is.”
“It’s like 1045, Dee,” Kevin snorted.
“Semantics,” the man told him as he held the picture out at arm’s length. “I gotta take this back with me.”
“Dude, make sure you put it in your office so people can see it when they come do interviews for you and stuff.”
Eddward gave him a blank stare and Kevin outright laughed.
“You’re an ass,” he sighed as he thought about how Marie would flip if she saw the picture in the background of his interviews.
“You like my ass,” Kevin grinned and Eddward scowled as a deep blush crawled up his neck and rushed back from his cheeks to his ears as he plotted his revenge in his mind.
“I guess I can keep it here,” he shrugged and fire flew through Kevin’s eyes.
“NO,” he said firmly as Eddward started to laugh. “ Nuh uh! No way, Dee. I ain’t dealing with her ass if she doesn’t see it near you after the recess is over.”
“What? Like it’s hard?,” Eddward deadpanned as he set the picture against the wall with his briefcase that Kevin had brought into the office while Eddward was wandering around the kitchen and sniffing the flowers.
“I am many things, Eddward, but a Kanker wrangler ain’t one of them,” Kevin huffed as he pointed a finger at the man who bit said finger.
“I’ll wrangle you,” he said as he held Kevin’s index finger between gapped teeth and everything came to a halt as Kevin stared at him.
First, it was the kiss.
Sure, they hadn’t seen each other in a few days, but there was something about the way he moaned into it that had Kevin’s motors running.
Then he flirted through dinner like only Eddward could flirt, especially in public.
Cute side glances, that damn snicker-snort thing he’d do that Kevin loved if he said anything even remotely close to being funny, the way he held his hand. Tight, but not too tight, and a gentle squeeze every few seconds. Kevin couldn’t bring himself to use two hands for anything, and not because he didn’t want to see Eddward’s pout from letting go, but because he didn’t want him to ever let go ever.
It wasn’t just the touch, it was the connection he felt in that touch.
The questions about work and his genuine interest in it.
The way he remembered even the smallest things about all of his cases and reminded him of a few things Kevin had forgotten about.
And the way he’s looking at him now is letting Kevin know one thing and one thing only.
His congressman needs to have a meeting with him.
He yanked his finger out of Eddward’s mouth, grabbed his tie and pulled him in for a kiss, but stopped short of actually kissing him when Eddward’s chest slammed into his own.
“Is Senator Rockwell trying to cowboy up to his constituent?,” he growled, lips just barely grazing Eddward’s as he spoke and the congressman whined.
“I…I’ll…”
Kevin’s forehead fell to Eddward’s and as those ice blue eyes looked at him with oh, so much longing, he used his free hand to tug Eddward’s beanie away. A strong hand found its way into thick, curly, ebony locks and when it set his hair free from the high bun it was in, the lawmaker is weak.
“Say it,” Kevin whispered as his hair and defenses fell.
Kevin knew that this could go one of two ways.
Either way, he was ready.
“I need you.”
I need you
Three little words that meant just as much as I love you to them. Probably even more so as their careers took them down paths that required that their home network to be supportive even in times when they didn’t think they could because they were away from each other for far longer than they ever wanted to be.
Eddward had been gone for damn near four months, far longer than the legislative session because the various committees he was on were in session preparing for the legislative one. Kevin made a point to try to come visit at least once a week, preferably on the weekends so they could catch a few more hours together than the normal workday would allow them.
This legislative session ended on a Wednesday to give the lawmakers time to get back to town and get a head start on their Spring Break so they would be ready to hit the ground running when they got home and do some sort of work over the end of the week to prepare themselves and the people they answered to for the work that really needed to get done once the break kicked into high gear.
Kevin usually left on Sunday afternoon, but this past week, he had to leave on Saturday afternoon to get back to Peach Creek for a lunch on Sunday being given in his honor at the Boys and Girls Club for his work with the at risk kids in Peach Creek and Lemon Brook when they were high school and on breaks in in undergrad so they could have the chances he didn’t.
Eddward sent a sweet video message but it wasn’t the same.
It never was.
The weekend they had spent together was gone all too quickly and they both were working through it because that was just how their lives were. So to be back together for the first time in what seemed like forever, but they both knew was a only a few days, was like lighting had struck.
This was a bit normal for them as it was Eddward who was always away and Kevin near begging him to come home.
But to have him to himself and Eddward making sure that was all he got, was like reaching an oasis in the desert and you’re on Day: 7, Hour: 23, Minute: 59, Second: 55 of No Water.
Kevin’s dying.
But Eddward is, too.
Nazz is convinced that the only real reason Eddward worked as hard as he did was because he missed Kevin when he was away. He always had a strong work ethic and as his job titles and positions changed, he just adapted with it. But there was no denying the fact that when they were apart, Eddward was a work horse for the state of North Carolina. And no matter how hard he tried to be there when Kevin was around, his reputation proceeded him and it was hard for him to shake the congressman off and still keep his boyfriend title on.
Which is why, as much as he’s loathed to admit it, because they both knew the job was dangerous when he took it, when Kevin comes to visit and rips him away from laws and by laws, statutes, regulations, and the rules of keeping the state united with itself and the rest of the country, he’s glad that there’s someone there who cares about him enough to make him come out from under all the bureaucracy he buries himself in a good nine months out of the year.
At home, he can be himself. He can cook and clean. He can read trashy fantasy novels. He can watch cartoons and eat soup on the couch without someone interrupting him. He can answer the phone and the front door and it won’t be someone needing something of the state and him being the only one available to provide it.
Except the Girl Scouts.
But then again, he needs their cookies just as much as he needs Kevin rightthissecond. He’s really gonna need their cookies when Kevin’s done with him.
We all have our post coitus vices.
The one thing that people did not know about them that despite Kevin being the one who was more showy about their relationship, behind closed doors, Eddward was the one in charge.
He ran their house with an eagle eye. He knew when bills were due, which days the trash and recycling was picked up, for how long they could go without doing laundry, and even then he made sure their cleaning service took care of it before things got too far gone, when the groceries were delivered, and the last time their cars were tuned up.
It was his job that ran their relationship. Kevin’s wasn’t exactly 9 to 5, either, but he had more normal hours than Eddward ever did or would for that matter. As such, everything they ever did to maintain their relationship was done on Eddward’s schedule.
And ever since Kevin started to feel feelings for him, Eddward kept each step of their physical relationship on his terms. But even in the few times Kevin would step things up until they made it all official, he never moved beyond what Eddward was comfortable with dealing with.
Eddward was the one with more experience when it came to the intimate side of things as he dated his few share of guys before he started dating Kevin, so Kevin let him lead the way. They found that while Kevin was the one who would give in public, as any PDA was usually initiated by him, in bed, the redhead was a taker and he was always hungry for what Eddward had to give.
Until Eddward needed him.
All he had to do was say those three words and Kevin would stop the world to fulfill his needs.
Sometimes he wondered if it was because their jobs kept them so busy that their sex life was always a crazy thing of stolen kisses in cars before he dropped him off at the capital or a speaking engagement, and back stage before speeches, quick hugs on the capital’s steps, and the occasional quickie rut in the private bathroom in Eddward’s office.
Most of the time, he knew it was because they couldn’t be who they were in public as much as they could in private, so they would take whatever they could whenever they could get it.
Three little words and they’re home alone.
Time to lay down with a congressman and find some solutions to this problem of loving a man who gave and did so much for so many for so little in return.
Eddward whined into the kiss Kevin finally gave him and shifted his weight from foot to foot as his hands found their way up the strong back of the strongest person he ever had to lean on and then into thick hair the color of the passion they felt for each other.
Despite being in their thirties and damn near equal heights, Kevin could pick him up with ease and Eddward used to protest the action, but the way Kevin held on to him would make him shut up. It wasn’t as emasculating as he thought it’d be because Kevin just wanted to hold him close and get them from Point A to Point B.
And he always needed to be at Point B, so he was just fine with Kevin leading the way.
Crossing his legs behind Kevin’s back, he shifted his weight in the redhead’s arms so they could be face to face and he could kiss him like he’s been dying to for the last four days.
And undo the cuffs to his Oxford at the same time.
Even though they’ve lived in this house for three years now, the short walk from the office to the bedroom across the hall wasn’t without it’s bumps and Eddward’s got the scars on his lower back and shoulders to prove it.
Apologies were muttered between kisses and accepted with more kisses and eager touches.
As soon as Eddward’s back would hit the bed, one hand was tugging Kevin’s shirt off and the other was undoing his belt buckle. Which left Kevin’s hands free to shuck his tie across the room and undo his Oxford.
“I want a new shirt.”
Buttons flew as the shirt was torn from Eddward’s torso and tossed away.
When his undershirt joined what was left of his Oxford, he gasped, but Kevin just said, “I bought you a new pack last week,” as he pulled his pants off and Eddward looked relieved.
At what Kevin couldn’t tell, til he pulled him back over him and kissed him with such need and urgency, the redhead can barely keep up.
But only barely.
Hands that showed him how to break down a quadratic equation, pointed out his blind spots on the football field, and slowly eased their way around his heart shoot down the front of his pants as his earlobe is caught between the gap between Eddward’s two front teeth.
“Aide-moi s’il te plaît,” Eddward hissed in his ear and Kevin’s cracking.
His massive vocabulary was always reduced to mere syllables in moments like this, but when his hormones and emotions were working in overdrive, Eddward could only speak French. And while it was the sexiest thing Kevin had ever heard, he never could quite understand him because his voice would be so low and barely above a whisper.
But he could feel the words and what Eddward meant by them in the way the raven wrapped his legs around his waist, in his kisses, in his touches.
Delicate nips down his neck and Eddward’s all but begging for more in the way he tilts his head to the side and exposes the skin he’s laid his mark on since they were 17.
A bite to his collarbone and the groan in Eddward’s chest makes him chuckle because the man may sound like he’s irritated by the gesture but the way he’s holding Kevin’s head in that spot says otherwise.
A whine as he licks over the bite to soothe the pain away so he sticks his tongue down his throat and wraps their cocks together in one hand and Eddward gives him that moan again.
He squeezes them tight to keep himself together, but Eddward’s squirming for more.
So he gives him more.
A hip roll as he jerks his hand up and down and Eddward’s gasping for air.
He can’t have his man short of breath, so he presses their mouths together and gives him his own breath of life and Eddward squeezes him tight to get all the air he can out of him before he takes it away again with kisses down his jaw, his neck, his chest, to each rib on his right side.
A delicate kiss to the scar left behind when the doctors had to take his appendix out sophomore year of college and Kevin thought he had lost him, but like now, Eddward held on.
Because he still had a job to do, a life to live, and a love to do it all with and for.
And despite the lewdness of the act, that love gave his cock the type of love he couldn’t live without, even when he literally had to live without him.
Kevin wasn’t the first guy he had met without a gag reflex, but he was the only one who could suck him down and make it seem like he was playing all the love songs on his cock as he did so.
A suck here.
A kiss there.
And a trill that ran from his groin to the head of his dick made chills run down his spine.
“Merde, Kev…”
Kevin knew that once he started swearing, it was just a matter of time…
“Merde…merde…merde…je vais venir!”
The last three words came out in jumble as he came down Kevin’s throat and the redhead sucked him dry.
Another kiss to the scar that marked the spot that nearly killed him and his hands are in his hair, just like the afternoon that he woke up from his surgery and the look in his eyes was the same.
Love
Awe
Need
He was there for him then, he was here for him now.
For them.
Kevin flew up the eastern seaboard on a red eye flight as soon as Eddward’s father called to tell him what happened. He nearly lost his scholarship because he didn’t tell anyone where he was going and why until Eddward had been cleared to go home. Eddward was pissed at him to say the least, but helped him write the letter that was his apology to his coach, team, and school just the same.
“You said you’d have me. I’m not leaving,” Kevin told him when Eddward asked him about how he was faring with being away from school on such short notice and Kevin responded with finally calling his coach to tell him where he was.
And yet, they’ve spent so much time apart in their relationship that even they would sometimes wonder how they lasted so long.
But here they were, in each other’s arms, like this was where they were truly meant to be.
Because it was.
A kiss to his nose and a pleading whine.
Kevin will never get over the look on his face when his slips a slicked up finger inside of him.
His head is thrown back, eyes wide, and his back is perfectly arched.
Kevin’s making sure that his secretary knows that he has to do his yoga every Tuesday and Thursday morning no matter what.
The results are well worth the time and expense of the personal class.
His jaw is dropped making his mouth round out into a perfect O.
His skin pales as his breath is stolen away, but his cheeks are red.
Kevin curls his finger and Eddward’s legs curl around him.
As he works his finger into doing the dance that stretches Eddward open, his eyes flutter close, but he still moans and his breathing is labored.
“Just breathe, Babe.”
His eyes fly open and the pleading yearning in them nearly makes Kevin come undone.
“Not yet. Just breathe. Please.”
Eddward nods and his hand scrambles to find Kevin’s free one as the redhead kisses what little breath he has out of him.
Each added finger got the same reaction and each time it was just as delicious as the one before.
He all but sobs when Kevin pulls his hand away from and the near angry look in his eyes is fucking hilarious.
“Dude. I got ya,” Kevin grins and frustration and need settle into those baby blues as Eddward huffs his impatience. “Look at me,” Kevin says lowly as he pulls off his pants and rolls the condom on.
Eager blue eyes meet his own and it makes him smile.
Eddward isn’t one for being vulnerable. He spent too much time in their childhood doing just that.
A throw down with the biggest bully they had ever met brought out a strength in him that Kevin swore rivaled Big Ed’s and Rolf’s sheer brute force combined.
The raven would move heaven and earth to help anyone in need.
But now, he needs to be taken care of.
And there’s only one person who can do that for him.
“Hold on –“
Kevin can’t even finish his sentence because strong, slim arms are around his shoulders and long, lean legs that used to run away from him, run track, ran for office, and ran into his arms, then wrapped themselves around his very soul, wrap around his waist, and the look on Eddward’s face says it all.
Please
Kevin slips an arm around his waist and a strong hand grasps a hip as he pushes himself inside.
Gentle kisses distract him away from the pain that accompanies this act, but only a little bit.
A frustrated hiss because the redhead can’t hold back and Kevin’s full of apologies as he bottoms out.
“It’s ok,” Eddward sighs as he knows the feeling all too well. “Just…”
Strong arms wrap around him and pull him close and the public servant feels at rest with the only citizen who’s been his peace since he decided to take on this crazy journey full time.
The tense stretch gives way to tight heat and their bodies move of their own accord.
They’ve been in sync on all the levels for over ten years now, so they just know what to do and how to do it, but that doesn’t stop Eddward from begging Kevin for more.
The day melted away as soon as he walked in the door, but the world disappears when he’s wrapped up like this with his man.
All he has ever wanted is here, in this room, in this bed, with this man.
Every move of his hips, his hands, his mouth, is a gift.
A gift of love.
He said he’d have him, and he did.
He wasn’t a bastard child, just a motherless one.
But he was still so lucky.
Lucky to turn his tense relationship with Kevin into an actual friendship, then love. Lucky that that love held on as their life’s work chose them. Lucky that despite all they had been through, that no matter what, they had each other.
He held onto Kevin as he rocked his hips harder and harder and as his hips roll up to meet Kevin’s and take him in deeper, his toes start to curl.
It’s a mere brushing of his foot against the redhead’s thigh, but something in that movement sets off a whole new set of fireworks in the man.
One hand runs down his leg and grabs his ankle as he pushes the leg back and into Eddward’s chest. He hoists the leg over his shoulder, and pins it there with his hand holding his foot in place.
And he never misses a beat.
Or a kiss.
Or a touch.
His other hand ran over his back and in his hair, down his side before grasping his cock and pumping it at the same time their hips were moving.
It was all out of sync and making them dizzy but they didn’t care.
He has heard Eddward call many a meeting to order.
He has heard him demand that worker’s rights be honored like the privileges that so many treat them as.
He has heard him tell homophobes where to go and how to get there in such a way that they felt honored to take the trip.
He has heard him tell Eddy to pull his shit together before he did it for him, and it’s always funny as hell.
But there was nothing like the way Eddward would say his name as he came.
A high gasp.
And as his body would shake, his name would fall out of his man’s mouth as sweetly as the jawbreakers they spent their childhood sucking on like he loved sucking on Eddward’s dick.
“Oh, Pumpkin.”
It was a name that he reserved just for him.
With his red hair, green eyes, tanned skin, and freckles, Eddward would often tell him that he resemble the autumn vegetable in such a way that it made him feel as warm and cozy as he did when they bundled up for long hikes in the mountains just to get away for a bit.
Coupled with his temper, he could be quite the Jack-O-Lantern when he had to be.
But now, he’s just Eddward’s Pumpkin.
His warmth when the world was cold, his comfort when the world was cruel.
His filling spice when he was running on empty, his protection when he didn’t have it in himself to fight back.
Kevin pulls him close and kisses him senseless before collapsing on top of him and Eddward keeps himself wrapped around him as the afterglow settles in.
When they can find it in themselves to breathe and move like normal human beings again, Kevin drags them into the shower and treats the Independent Party’s senator to his own spa day.
“Are you free for lunch tomorrow?,” Eddward yawned when they finally got back into bed after Kevin stripped it and replaced the linens while Eddward had some tea, Thin Mints, and finished going over the mail.
“You want me to come with you?”
Eddward looked up into curious and slightly surprised green eyes and gave him a grin that made the redhead blush.
“Only if you’re free. I’m not taking you from your work just because I’m on break,” he replied as he settled down into his spot under Kevin’s left arm.
“Weeeeell, if you can swing by the YMCA for the Big Brothers Big Sisters breakfast, I think I might be able to meet Bronson and his wife and kids for lunch.”
Eddward shot him an annoyed look and Kevin’s grin got wider as he huffed and crossed his arms.
“What time is breakfast?”
“Starts at 7, ends at 9,” Kevin said casually as he pulled him closer, confident that they had reached a compromise.
“And you don’t have anything to do for the rest of the day?”
“Not a thing,” Kevin said as he shook his head. “Unless I get an emergency call or something, I’m free after breakfast to do my own thing.”
“I’m not a thing, Kev,” Eddward said as he sat up and leveled a look at him.
Kevin cocked a brow at the seductive glint in his eye and cracked a sly grin.
“Yeah, and I already did ya.”
Eddward groaned into his hands and Kevin laughed til he damn near cried.
Soft green met bright blue as Kevin tugged his hands away and Eddward leaned in for a kiss that he missed so much and would spend the next two weeks catching up on.
“Wanna go to the zoo or something after lunch?”
Kevin thought for a minute about his request and slowly nodded.
“We’ll take my bike.”
“Is she ready?,” Eddward asked eagerly.
“Always.”
Eddward squealed as he threw himself into Kevin’s arms and the redhead held him tight.
Two weeks.
Their life’s purpose may have wreaked havoc on any semblance of a life outside of their respective office’s doors, but what they could take to get something back that was just for them, was grabbed by the horns each and every day.
Phone calls and visits.
Take out for dinner and kisses stolen over sensitive files the other was never allowed to see.
Texts and emails.
And the occasional chance to whisk him away to go see a movie, take a hike in the mountains, or see a few koalas at the zoo.
They lived their life to better the world.
And they were better for it.
“I call this meeting of the minds –,” Kevin began as he leaned over to turn off the light on his night stand.
“And bodies,” Eddward snicker-snorted.
“Adjourned,” Kevin sighed into the darkness as his ears burned crimson and they settled into each other’s embrace.
“Mhm,” Eddward hummed as he trailed his hand across Kevin’s chest and then grasped his hand.
“Yes, Senator?,” Kevin asked softly as he kissed his hand.
“I think we need to have another meeting tomorrow,” Eddward whispered as he squeezed his hand.
He had his man, but he hadn’t had him, and now he was feeling even needier than before.
“I think we need to go to Takayama’s.”
Like Hell was he letting Eddward come home and ravishing him silly without taking him out for a proper date night first. Especially since he promised him two weeks of just him and Eddward when they left the place that kept them away from each other all the damn time!
A full morning of working dates and an afternoon of just us time called for the proper ending it deserved.
And it deserved hibachi steak and shrimp.
Eddward couldn’t stop the grin that crossed his face at the mention of Kevin’s favorite Japanese steakhouse, but he also couldn’t just let him think that this was going to be any other date night.
“You do realize that it’s illegal to bribe a public official, Mr Barr?,” Eddward purred into his ear.
“So is what I did to you in like 10 states!,” Kevin laughed.
“Don’t remind me,” Eddward muttered bitterly and Kevin kissed his forehead.
“I won’t tell if you won’t tell,” Kevin snickered.
“Oh, please!,” Eddward scoffed. “You know the hostess will tell everyone with a mobile device.”
“True,” Kevin mused. “But she won’t be able to tell what you do to me.”
Even in the dark, Eddward could see that look in his eyes.
Admiration
Awe
LOVE
“I’ll make the reservations,” he said quietly.
“I’ll get you a new shirt.”
“Get yourself one, too,” Eddward said as he kissed his cheek and rolled over to get some sleep. “You’re gonna need it.”
Kevin just smiled as he pulled his Little Spoon close and got some shut eye himself.
This congressional recess was proving that it was going to be a busy one.
Hanging out with the guys in the garage is fun, I guys. Watching another monster movie, Ed can't take his eyes of the TV screen. Eddy is in the corner counting this weeks lunch money. "I'm gonna go outside guys, I'll be back later." - just need some fresh air, that will help get the dweeb out of my mind- "Leave him alone!!!!" Sarah screams off in distance. All of a sudden Ed is the doorway you left open, head pointed up waiting for Sarah to speak again so he knows which way to go. She screams again, a gun shoot following, this time it sounds like she's the one in pain. Ed rushes to the sound like a greyhound in a race. Eddy, in his pudgy form follows. *sigh* - why tonight of all nights - Once on the sceen, you could just imagine what happened. A dead dog just feet away from Jimmy and Sarah. Kevin standing on the sidewalk next to them shaking, still holding the gun up pointed at the dead beast. "SARAH!! Are you okay?" Ed says looking over his sister again and again. "I'm fine, put me down" Walking over to the Kevin, you slowly take the gun away from his death grip. Sitting it on the ground. Taking the secret love of your life's face in your hands, " Its fine, dork, he's gone. Its over." His eyes travel to yours. One look and he's done. One lone tear falls down his face, before he passes out.
