It was the Beautiful Days festival this weekend which I sadly missed as it sold out before I looked into tickets...so among all the great acts the thing I wanted to see most was Rev Hammer performing the whole of his “Freeborn John” album live. It’s an amazing album, like a folk rock opera based on the life of John Lilburne who,if you don’t know your English history, was the leader of the Levellers (that’s the movement not the band!).

It’s a fantastic piece of story telling and has great songs and lots of guests some of whom appear in this live version and some are replaced but other very talented folk!

So what a find this is so soon after Beautiful Days and although I’d rather have been there I’m still glad I can see this for myself.....oh and if you don’t know Lilburne’s story just do a google/wiki search it is well worth knowing!
