Ok, I was watching the Paris special today for the 2,697th time and I had some thoughts...
It's not an original theory that Emilie Agreste might not have been as great of a mom as the show leads us to believe. (exhibit A, Your Honor, Adrien's apparently lifelong incarceration- wtf kind of mother allows that to happen??) I've also seen fan theories that she might possibly have been aware of, and/or even an active accomplice to, whatever Gabriel was trying to do when he first started searching for the Miraculous before Adrien's birth. We're not given a lot of information on her through the course of the series- and what we do see is an idealized version of her in Gabriel's, Adrien's, even Nathalie's eyes.
We see/hear even less of Emilie in the reverse universe than we do in the regular one (which makes sense considering it is just one special worth of material) but it is implied that her death is that of an innocent- she is just a tool, killed by the Supreme as a punishment for Gabriel's defection. And if Gabriel is good in the reverse world, chances are Emilie was too- or possibly, like him, reformed. (we don't actually know to what level he was bad, only that he willingly participated in the Supreme's corrupt system of power for a time)
Soooo.... If the reverse world of the Paris special is truly a mirror, and Gabriel and Emilie are good and Adrien is bad (later to be reformed), then it stands to reason that in the regular world, since Gabriel is definitely bad, and Adrien is definitely good, Emilie was probably also bad. That also means.... this might be foreshadowing that we might not like where Adrien is headed in later seasons of the show. 🫣
Anyways, it's probably nothing. Just a thing I was thinking about.
