Where am I? Boyd Lake State Park, Loveland, Colorado Image(s) of the day(s): Fears faced: Letting Tucker and Molly off leash when I wasn’t supposed to! I’m so paranoid I’ll get caught or they’ll run off! But they had so much fun playing in the lake! The worst thing that happened was Molly rolled around all over a dead fish and stunk up the camper, and Tucker jumped all over me with his muddy…

Sweet anticipation!
As I’ve written here a couple of times before in the past couple of years, I’m still planning to adopt two adorable dachshund dudes, like those pictured above, into my home -- hopefully, later this year.
Meanwhile, as I learn the art (and challenges) of reverse-parenting....caring for my almost 88-year-old awesome Mom....I’m also learning everything I can to make me the best pet parent possible.
My readers here will be among the first to know when Peter and Paul -- to be named after two little brothers we lost as they were being born a half century ago -- come to my home....and, I suspect, hog this blog for a while.
And, I definitely plan to take the two boys to sea with me aboard Cunard Line’s RMS Queen Mary 2 -- the only luxury liner afloat with pet kennels -- after they've matured a bit....and been introduced to the scent of the sea with a few joyous romps on the beach.
Just imagine the tales yet to come!
Please stand by....
i took my dad to mcdonalds today #highquality #familytime
I got my mom to start reading The Magician's Nephew
She won't put it down now. I'm so proud.
okay so i lost my voice today and my dad picked me up to go out to dinner and he spent the full 30 minutes complaining about his job and his dog and that's when i realized i'm my dad's therapist
My mom has had a frustrating day, so I taught her to add texting shortcuts on her iPhone so she can say what she means, while coming across as polite and professional.
She has since gone through her emails, replying "SuckMyDick" to every annoying person she has to deal with and having it come up as "Have a nice day!"
She won't stop giggling.
It’s so frustrating to hear people blame poor parenting for the way they behave and the person they’ve become (including myself, I’m not pretending to be above this). An old friend of my mother’s was horrifically, unspeakably abused by her brother and father and mother: today she’s a community counsellor who lives in a gorgeous shack-like house only buying clothes and home wears from op shops to donate her money and is one of the most genuinely loving people I’ve ever met. She would credit it all to how she learnt who not to be. It’s so much harder, but it’s real. The strength it takes to grow into your own personality is so inspiring, I respect everyone who tries to overcome something as primal as the way you were raised to become someone kind and loving. You can learn from both the right and wrong examples of parenting. You do not have to be the product of your parents poor choices.
