The Days We Had by Day Wave Album Review

The Headcase and Hard to Read EPs were such a treat, and there is just something joyful about Day Wave’s music. I enjoy listening to it in the sense that it puts me in a pleasant mood. The upbeat cadence, hopeful lyrics, and light keyboard notes give the songs a levity and a grace. Day Wave formed in 2015 in Oakland, California as an indie rock band. It’s only official member is Jackson Phillips, but when touring he is accompanied by at least four other musicians. The idea of lightness sometimes comes with a frivolity, but Day Wave has managed to escape that downfall by delivering more heartfelt lyrics. Some of the songs might have repetitive lines, but that is simply the indie pop showing its face among the indie rock elements. The Days We Had is just a successful continuation of a theme for Day Wave, a third installment to the trilogy that was started by Headcase and Hard to Read.
