OK, the heptalogy of trilogies is now plus one, with Defiance, and I remain amazed by Cherryh's (and Fancher's) ability to spend an entire book in the most in-one's-head rumination and drawing room exposition, and have it stay gripping, right into and out the other side of the exciting action, because the books are all about the talking and (over-)thinking. And the love and man'chi, of course.

WE NEED SEAN MADIGAN BACK. this man got turned into headcase (aka. the black skull) JUST TO BE HYPED UP FOR NOTHING. he’s a super funny character with an interesting personality, backstory, and motives. make his wrinkly raisin self a deadpool villain or something. like?? i don’t know why he hasn’t been used since then, he’s the son of an iconic villain.
