Gaara seems to overpower Sasuke when Naruto jumps in along with Sakura. Sasuke isn't pleased with this, especially since he lost the entire family. He does not want to lose his only friends. In last Konan's attack Madara's Teleportation failed as she savvily mixed in many Paper Bombs. Konan figured out that when Tobi materializes himself as he sucks himself in, so paper bombs actually did affect him. Perhaps not enough to kill him as we hoped, but enough to harm him....
