Bye bye 2014 - Hello 2015!
I wanted to do this a couple of days earlier, but better late than never ;) I thought I'd take a look at 2014 in terms of What did I achieve? What changed in my life during the last year? And just anything important to me that happened 2014. Also, I'd like to make some general "goals" for 2015. Actually, they're less goals but rather some points I'd like to work on.
So what happened in 2014?
I found a job: The year was very exhausting emotionally. As you may have read here I struggled to find a job after I got my M.Sc. in Marketing in 2013. It really was a struggle to find a job. I had to write over 90 job applications to finally get a job as a team-assistant. I also did some freelance stuff in between and worked as a sales assistant at Accessorize (although it was only a temporary job at Accessorize, I really enjoyed working with people, helping them find accessories to complete outfits and ooohhh, all the beautiful glittery stuff in the shop ;)). After the first 10-15 refusals you start questioning yourself, you wonder what it is you're doing wrong and whether you're just an idiot and absolutely undesirable as an employee. I also had several offers which very shady, untrustworthy and wasted my time and nerves. Well, in the end I started working November 2014 :) So please, if you're in the same position and becoming desperate: don't give up!
I got my driver's license: I need to explain that getting a driver's license is quite an undertaking in Germany. First, the teaching / learning is pretty thouroughly and it's not super easy to pass the practical exam (about 1/3 fail at the first attempt). Second, it costs a shitload of money (1,500 € at least). I didn't really need to drive when I was at school / university and couldn't really afford to take driving lessons (money and time-wise). So this year I decided to use the time I had to get my license. Also it was essential for my job search as I could apply for jobs outside of town. Well, now my work pretty central and it's more convenient to take the subway but I got my brother's old car and drive couple of times a week in order to get pratice :)
I split up with my boyfriend of almost 5 years: Unfortunately, I still don't really want to talk about, but long story short: as my boyfriend couldn't commit to moving in with me I decided to take the step and separate. He still means a lot to me, but right now I'm in a good place and don't want/need a relationship. I want to do something I didn't really do for years: focus on myself.
I took part at my first ever Color Run: The Color Run took place where I live so I absolutely needed to participate :D I went with a group of 3 friends and we had a blast (though we had to walk / jog bc we were out of shape and I had an eeeeeeeeeeevil evil cough). It was a beutiful, sunny and absolutely fun day :)
So as you can see, quite a lot changed in 2014. I'm looking forward to a exciting and fun 2015. I don't really set super detailed goals for this year, because, as experience shows, life goes its way, no matter what we excpect. But here are some points I'd like to work on in 2015:
Organize my professional life and show more of my abilities and potential: I'd like my boss to see what I can accomplish and that I really am able to learn and to get ahead. I know I'll need to come out of my comfort zone to do that.
Go on a couple of dates: I haven't been dating for ages. I think I should go out and take a look at all the fish in the sea ;) (Well, yeah, after a couple of dates I'll be probably back to my usual "I hate dating" attitude haha)
Get back in shape: I absolutely fell off the wagon since I got my job, but I want to change that. And as I realized in the last few days: I'm totally out of shape (and I gained a couple of kilos). So, back to yoga, jogging, Jillian Michaels, Zumba (in the summer) and healthy eating.
Reorganize / Optimize my appartment: As I didn't move into a 2-room appartment I want to better use the space I have and make my appartment cosier :) I'll also try to do some more decluttering on a regular basis.
Take part at one / two runs: I already signed up for the company run in summer (6K) and I hope there's another Color Run this year :)
Cut my hair short, because yolo and stuff :PPPP
Go on an amazing holiday and see places :)
Well, I guess that's about it. All in all, I'm quite excited about what the year will bring :)
