Music Review Delivery 07.10.2026

This week was generally very up and down. One moment I'm euphoric the next I'm waking up in a cold sweat stressed like I work 5 jobs. But in the end there's always a silver lining for me and I like to think being able to do reviews is one of those things. Let's get into the music!

i-dle - Gimme Dat Love

For starters I’m IN LOVE with Yuqi’s new hair color; red makes her shine so much. Minnie’s voice is really made for songs like these and I think it’d do her some good in her solo works to tap into this more. I will say I did sort of think the chorus pails a bit in comparison to the prechorus. I also obviously must give them their flowers for putting so many gay couples in the background of the music video (also technically the foreground if you pay close attention to the reel of clips near the end). Yuqi’s part with Soyeon was by far my favorite. Overall nice song

From a first listen you can’t immediately put a finger on it but the fact that it was composed by Pharrell would come as no shock to you. I appreciate the stylistic homage to early 2000s music videos here but I gave a low rating because this particular mv look just isn’t my cup of tea. I also really liked the blending of Mandarin, Korean, and English were a nice addition as I don’t see kpop companies going in to mix languages very often; the last example I remember being LIT by STAYC. It’s not the best thing Seventeen has done but it’s an alright track. Overall okay!

RESCENE - Pretty Girl

I find it hard for myself to judge covers the way I usually judge songs because I feel like I focus too much on what it’s not doing that the original did do. I don’t always love how covers change the production so I was happy that here it stayed relatively the same minus the vocal filters. I’d say it’s a pretty faithful remake. I’m not sure if this was intentional makeup work or just how the young lady looks, but whoever’s in blonde pigtails reminds me of Gyuri. I don’t rate this much higher than I rank the original KARA record. It’s not their best but damn catchy

Yeonjun - Ice Cream

I was somewhat aware this release was coming out but wasn’t exactly hyped for it; probably because other stuff was happening in my life I found more important. I thought it was okay but the chorus only has that blurred lines style delivery with the Ice Cream line going for it; otherwise it’s pretty basic. I can enjoy it but very moderately. Overall ehh song

BABYMONSTER - I Like It

I see YG’s trying to strike gold like they did with Forever again. It’s an alright song for BABYMONSTER standards. I really liked the bridge and outro of the song. I think the actual chorus could’ve used something to beef it up so it wasn’t as repetitive as it feels. I enjoyed Pharita and Ahyeon’s lines the most. I thought the music video was pretty cute even if basic for a summer mv. Overall good song and I would go out of my way to listen to it on my own if I were to think of a Baemon song.

QWER - SHOW DOWN

Everyone’s favorite girl-band has dropped a track with a more dark style than their earlier stuff for their Japanese debut. I’ve usually known QWER as the bubbly ppp rock band but this shift in concept fits like a glove. As an insomnia of many years this fills up the Dreamcatcher filled hole in my heart (along with ChRocktikal of course). The bridge was genuinely beautiful but the chorus itself is amazing too. I would’ve made the bridge longer but other than that it’s perfect to me. Overall great release

VAYONN - MUAH!

I didn’t really like the song at the start but I did really enjoy the chorus. It reminds me of stuff TXT would have on their albums as a b-side in the earlier years. I might not go out of my way to listen to it outside of this but it’s good. I really liked the music video too and thought it was really fun. Not much to say here other than it’s good

Pagaehun - Hey Girl

I really like the prechorus of the song. I genuinely enjoy this guy's voice a lot. I have never heard of him before but he might end up being a new favorite, an honor only few can get. It's a pretty typical krnb esque track but that kind of thing is exactly up my alley. The music video looks pretty nice and I like the puppet thing. The best part of this is the chorus hands down but the intro also holds up. Overall pretty good song, I'll surely look out for any new stuff from this guy going foward.

BUS - Lover Loser

I have never been a huge fan of BUS and largely always preferred their former sister group MXFRUIT but given that ship has sailed it wouldn't hurt to give the boys a listen. Lover Loser is a heartstring tugging emotional track which due to the similar visual and sonic style I assumed would go the route of the similarly titled Lover Lo$er by TXT but I was mistaken as this one takes a more traditional sad song approach; a ballad that's fun for the whole family. I liked the chorus very much and I mean VERY. This basically being my only impression of them besides LIAR, I'm pleasantly surprised and impressed with how well they can sing. I relate a lot to the lyrics as well too which I promise did NOT influence bias, but it was a nice addition to feel a connection to the music I enjoy. Overall super great song!

Music Review Delivery 07.03.2026

This week was fairly normal for me. I realized a lot of things and I got back in touch with good friends. I cried a little but I got back up and got over everything. Let’s get into the music!

UAU - Gene

I really enjoyed Yoohyeon’s lines and Sua’s lines in the song. Song itself isn’t much special but it’s cute and catchy. I liked the midsection the most but even that’s still sorta ehh to me. All in all I’m really just missing full group Dreamcatcher even though that’s not really a possibility. I would maybe listen to it intentionally on occasion but that’s using “on occasion” very sparingly. It doesn’t really have much going on with it; at least not enough for a summer song in my opinion

CHUU - Rule ft. Heize

I really enjoyed Heize’s part in the middle and I wish it was longer so the song could be padded out more and feel less like just a singular bite of music. It has a really great  backing track on it and really had potential to be better if they weren’t so repetitive with the verses. I like both CHUU and Heize but I just wish this were more of a complete feeling song.

V8 - singasong

The irony in the refusal to say pikachu because it’s a brand name but having the subunit be named after a well known brand of veggie juice is absolutely killing me. I think I overall enjoyed Vernon’s parts the most but Minghao’s soft voice really suits this type of song more. This is definitely a project where more money went into visuals because the music video looks great even though the song is just a little bit above the quality line. Overall it’s okay but not a favorite of mine

THE FIX - DIE IN THE MOSHPIT

Not too fond of the AI usage in the music video but given this seems like an independent band with far less resources that the average artist I won’t just jump to crucify them. Moving on from that I think I’ve vaguely heard of this band before but didn’t remember any music I heard of theirs at that time. I think the song itself especially the intro part is really great. It leans a bit repetitive but that doesn’t plague it much.

CHOI YOOJUNG - Perfect Target

I haven’t stopped getting videos of Yoojung promoting this song on her TikTok so it’d be criminal to not give it a spot on my list when it came out. It’s sort of full of fluff in the verses even though they are enjoyable. The videography is really beautiful, I genuinely love everything about this mv. I enjoyed the chorus except for the signature ttang ttang tarang bit; I found it a little annoying after a few listens. Overall a cute song that while not being outstanding has earned its place in my playlists

Keyveatz - OXY

Wasn’t all that impressed with this one. I’ve enjoyed stuff from this group before but this one just didn’t really do it for me. I feel like any group with a sort of adjacent concept could’ve released a song like this and I’m not really hearing Keyveatz in here. That line in the end about “yeah we going ADHD”really hit the nail in the coffin for me that this release is not really worth much. I hope their other later releases are slightly better than this.

PERSES - Hotter than ur X

For starters, Pluggy’s opening verse is absolutely phenomenal, love him. It kinda sounds a little like a drama OST. The “I know you want it” part gets really grating after a while and unfortunately I can’t ignore it this time because it’s a huge part of the song. I think it could’ve used a longer intro but that’s just my personal opinion solely. Overall pretty good Perses song though I’m yet to be as impressed as I was with Freeze.

Blue.D - Perfect Love ft. BE’O

BE’O’s part was my favorite by far but other than that I’m really fond of Blue.D’s vocal tone. She reminds me of BiBi but with a slightly softer inflection. I wish there were more wow parts because after a few listens it gets a bit boring. It’s a nice krnb track though and I’d definitely consider listening to more from her after hearing this

MYERA - Wantcha bad 

The way they format the song especially around the chorus reminds me a lot of NMIXX’s tracks circa 2024. It’s like See That? mixed with What’s My Name by MAVE. I really enjoyed Aguri and Yui’s parts the most. The middle of the song was by far the best part of the entire thing. I wish it was slightly longer but overall it’s a great song

This is one of my best weeks yet. I’ve been busy but not stressed. The rollouts this week  really excited me and even the ones I wasn’t exactly looking out for made me happy.

STAYC - 2 LOVE

I was waiting with bated breath like it was the only thing that mattered; seriously dude! Okay, maybe a little dramatic for a damn kpop song, but I just love STAYC the intro part. It feels like a natural modernization of their earlier sound in a way that isn’t forced. I know folks tend to harp on the nasal voice but I’m a sucker for Sieun so her lines were my favorite here aside from Yoon and J. I will say it strays more toward b-side territory and could’ve used something that gave it more of a kick like what they did with the bridge in I Want It. Overall pretty cute song though, maybe not for my playlists, but it’s a catchy little number.

i-dle - Crow

I liked this a lot from first impressions. I thought this one was pretty cool. It reminds me of the kind of song you’d hear them play in the opening of an action or thriller film. I don’t really care for what they did with the tuning on Miyeon’s part; feels kinda off. I really liked Shuhua and Yuqi’s little back and forth duo in the midsection. It reminds me of Stray Kids’ songs when they’d take two members to do that exact thing. It could’ve used a stronger part for Miyeon to shine in my opinion. Otherwise really solid song. I’m a big fan of this one

USPEER - Wicked Game

Been a while since I heard from them. It reminds me of You can’t sit with us by Sunmi but with slower. It’s not the most original type of song but it’s got the chorus going for itself at least. The bridge before the outro was my favorite part so far cause it feels the most unique. I mostly enjoyed the music video for this which seems to be the one thing groups rarely make boring even if the song is a drag; like a pretty cake but it doesn’t taste good. That former statement doesn’t apply here though because it’s just a slightly above average song. It’s alright

RIIZE - Do your dance

I’m quite partial to RIIZE so I wasn’t expecting to like it just from the intro. It feels more like an NCT track, very 127 esque, but at this point I’ve just accepted that this is really just what all SM boy groups are obligated sound like. I thought Sohee’s part in the intro was really cool. The head hip shoulder toes at the chorus feels a bit meandering and annoying after the first few listens though; that’s the plight of repetitive tracks like this one. I really liked it regardless of that though. Great song, gold star sticker!

Secret - Ice Cream

It reminds me a lot of older Fromis b-sides. I had been thinking quite a lot about Secret and their career in the past year, so seeing them just make a comeback seemingly out of nowhere was a pleasant surprise. It’s not a sound I ever thought I’d see them delve into but it fits their voices very well. On the third listen it does start to feel a bit more annoying hearing the repetitive nothing chorus but that doesn’t drag it too much because it’s surrounded by other good elements here. The outro was by far my favorite bit. Few complaints, solid song

Omega X - Uncapped

I thought the intro was pretty cute but didn’t really strike me. The prechorus is kinda nice but then the chorus itself is just tacked on and doesn’t really feel like it’s apart of the group project if that makes sense. I really think a better chorus could’ve genuinely saved this one a lot.  I enjoyed the midsection quite a lot but that’s really where it stops for me. It’s not terrible but it’s not all that stellar.

ONF - Open The Door

I’m not with ONF’s music too much but this unintentional pop-rock entry into this week’s list was well appreciated. I love when groups and soloists dabble in this type of genre from time to time. I really felt the emotion of the song beneath a surface level. I really liked the choreography here which despite me being a dance obsessed person I can’t really say for a ton of songs out there. The bridge and outro really tie this one together like a gift, a beautiful gift. This might not get the end of year nominations for best anything but damn it deserves them

It’s a really cute song. I always enjoy Japanese releases coming from JYP artists like this. It reminds me a little bit of Chopstick by NiziU. It’s not the most impressive product to get pumped out of the JYP machine but it’s enjoyable and catchy.

JeA - Romance

Our favorite Brown Eyed Girl’s still got it! This week sure is quite full of oldies making a burst back into music. I feel like every kpop soloist from 3rd generation or earlier has delved into this sort of disco-lite genre at least once it’s almost like it’s in their contracts. The music video is really what steals the show here for me. That black and white outfit with the hat is gorgeous. The midsection and second chorus is my favorite part hands down. I can never really get bored of this type of song. I’m a fan!
