IT SOUNDS
JUST. LIKE. THE. VOICE.

o mother in my bones listen to me please
once she was the daughter of a king and queen
their mercenary merchant kingdom
revoche, they called it
always on the move as was the way to survive & yet anguia was not anguia then but she is anguia now it is all she knows.
she was curious. we are all curious. she went where she should not have. she stepped into a valley of bone and blood. what you must understand is that the harrow looks normal at first. nothing looks wrong with it.
until you move.
enough.
until you get too deep.
until you feel the dirt become bloodslick under your claws. you need to run before then.
(marcela says that if you can even smell the sick air, you’re already trapped).
but by the end of her expedition,
the woman who would be anguia carried the sickness in her bones.
heard the voice of a god in her ears.
down her spine.
took over her bones. her brain. anguia lost her eye. it speaks through her. she speaks through her. anguia is her favorite. in her lucid moments she talks about her home like she will see it again. but sulvach takes her again, speaks through her jaws. you can tell when it is sulvach because sulvach cannot control the body that she tries to wear. it doesn’t matter which member of the harrow she tries to walk. she can’t do it.
she can’t.
and it infuriates her.
but the harrow-wolves listen to anguia, at least. it is something. it keeps them where they should be. they cannot leave. they are not kept there. but they know they cannot leave.
they know, because when they do, the rot in them passes to the wolves they meet.
all become carrion.
