Review: 7Days
What do you get when you mix Minecraft-style blocky pixel-graphics with a solid horror gaming experience? 7Days by Italian developer RevoLabs is an incredibly straightforward horror game experience wrapped up in a peculiar pixelated package. The game is set over the course of 7 “days” (though you'd never know as the game is set almost entirely within the dark confines of a house.) And involves a fine mixture of jump scares, psychological hijinks, and heavy atmosphere. As the game starts out it doesn't look like much: Blocky bookshelves, tables beds and doors with flat textures, and an all-occluding darkness that makes it difficult to see more than a few yards ahead at all time. But with as simple as the models and design for the game is, there is a -lot- to interact with, much of which has no bearing on the story itself. For example all the TVs like this one: Can be turned on to reveal static. They can't always be turned off. Sometimes futzing with an object will cause the game to react. Giggling, Footsteps, hallucinations, all manner of disruptions that keep you on edge as you play the game. Sometimes you need only look at an something, this suspicious writing for example: Aside from being creepy it's not terribly out of the ordinary, but if you stare too long or get too close... ...Your field of vision begins to distort and the whole screen gets a reddish tint. This is used to good effect throughout the game, everything from paintings... ….to bizarre scrawling on the walls... ...can send you into this state. My only minor gripe is that sometimes it can last a little longer than necessary, leading you to have to wander about or even solve puzzles with the screen waving about like a drunk terminator's vision. “Ah'll be bahck.. for more margaritas.” But my complaints about the game are actually few and far between. There are a few sections I didn't like, particularly a part where the game increases the level of darkness leading you to have to follow the wall closely to figure out what you are doing, (similarly to another indie game called “In Dark,” but more about that another time.) But these sorts of annoyances are scant. The gameplay is pretty simple. Left-clicking interacts with objects in the world, WASD movement, and the “E” key brings up an inventory from which you can pull items such as keys, notes and other objects necessary to move through the game. The game has a couple minor errors, for exsample the first object you pick up comes with instructions on opening the menu and selecting items. It's the only untranslated phrase in the game: But generally the game is pretty solid. It has options for a variety of languages and aside from the above mix-up, the English is very good. Gameplay tends to revolve around waking up in the same room, wandering through the day's incarnation of the house searching for keys to get into locked rooms and picking up notes. Some of these are esoteric clues to the over-all story of the game... Others are the final objective to the “day,” All of which say the same thing and result in you waking up the next day after reading them. Beyond basic exploration with occasional creepiness, the game provides rudimentary puzzle-solving and a couple of instances where the player must escape from a monster. Both of these are simple but well executed. Not to mention often strange. Despite the simplistic nature of it's graphics, the environments are interesting to look at and fun to navigate. With enough variety and strangeness to keep the game interesting despite there being only a few real changes in backdrop. Also of note is the game's sound design, which is executed extremely well and adds excellently to the atmosphere of the game. Great Stuff. In conclusion, there is a lot to love about this game. It manages to keep tension and hold attention very well. I was stunned at the level of immersion attained by a game with such rudimentary graphics, but it manages, in fact I had intended on providing more screenshots and simply forgot to take them because I had been drawn in and was so focused on what I was doing that it slipped my mind until it was too late. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the mark of a good game. It's not a very long experience, so be prepared to spend only about a half-hour or so on it. 7Days is a bit of an experimental project according to it's developers, and is available for free to anyone who want to enjoy the experience, which I highly recommend that you do. Here's the breakdown: Atmosphere: 9 Design: 8 Gameplay: 7 Sound: 9 Story: 7 TOTAL: 40/50 VERDICT: What are you waiting for? Go play this. 7Days is available without charge along with it's main theme over at Game Jolt. WAKE UP.
Devlog #3 - Getting started for real
And here we are with another Monday (a bit late but oh well)!
Finally we're getting the right flow with the game's develop: the Chat system is finally ready and functional, so is the host/client stuff.
Ahestetically, the game have a new shader to make the "polishy" aspect of Unity look more raw and eerie.
We're now integrating Maps in the game (You'll see how they work) and a new thing I think you'll all like.
Also, we have the first Enigma (the numberpad one) ready to test things and stuff =)
More news to come the next week, so stay tuned!

Devlog #1 - Let's Taint your world
Hey there, folks! Long time no see!
With this post we present to you the Tainted Devlog: Tainted is the new game we at GoosEntertainment are working on. This devlog will be updated weekly to show you all the progresses made.
Despite being a bit low on success, the alpha version of Tainted gave us great and positive feedback. Based on these feedback, we're now working on a complete version of Tainted, which will be something capable of scare and entertain the player for hours.
The new Tainted is being developed with Unity and it will provide a totally 3D world: no more 2D GUI elements and billboard monsters. A week has passed since the beginning of this work, and our MAGICAL TIZZIO created the game's personal server and a new Chat System (the old system was a bit hackish and we wanted to change it since the beginning).
We can't show you anything for now, but fear not: every week we will taint you with news related to the project.
As always, sorry for my bad english and Stay tuned!

7Days #1 | Stop Scaring Me!
I decided to give 7Days a new chance and boy, it scares the living eff out of me. I don’t know why, I know it will scare me but hey, apparently it still makes me jump. And scream.
Like. Not even raise my voice a few octaves but literally scream. That’s how bad it is.
Sigh, it’s almost embarrassing.
