Revolved Extended Side Angle Pose, aka Parivrtta Parsvakonasana, is a intense stretch that requires a good deal of flexibility and often a dedicated practice to get there. But once you do, the fabulous lower back opener is worth it. I came to this pose convinced that a twist this deep couldn't be a real and that maybe the teacher was wrong when she instructed us to do it. Luckily I was the one who was wrong, as not only is it part of the Ashtanga Primary Series but it also gives such an amazing opening to the back of the torso and shoulders while strengthening (and opening) the legs, that it's now one of my favorite poses to do. So join me Saturday morning at 11am @lucentyoga where we will move and open and twist...maybe even into this exact shape. 😉
