A stupid, reckless mistake cost Rex his freedom... but now he’s finally getting out.
He doesn’t get excited during the days leading up to his release. It probably won’t happen anyway. These things get postponed. Shit happens. People get lost in the broken system all the time.
“Hardin. It’s time to go.”
The only possession the guard has for him is a change of clothes and a wallet with twenty simoleons tucked away.
His friend is there to pick him up, but few words are said between them. Rex spends the next few days getting his shit together.
One of his first priorities is to get his bike out of storage. After that, he hits the road and never looks back. Fuck Evergreen Harbor. He’ll be happy if he never sees the smoggy streets of Port Promise ever again.
He works odd jobs for the next few months and eventually makes his way to Brindleton Bay, the only place in the world that’s ever felt somewhat like home.
“Weird,” he says to himself when he turns onto the dirt road leading up to the Whiskerman farm. Everything is overgrown. It looks like no one’s been around in years...
