For whatever reason, it has never occurred to her that the Nightmare King sleeps. It’s not something she has put much thought into before, but seeing it now makes it seem perfectly - well, not natural exactly, but obvious; Most spirits she has met sleep for one reason or another. { There is much to be said for the impulse to separate Pitch into something distinctly ‘ Other ’ whenever possible. } She has little faith in her ability to navigate any closer without waking him, though it will not stop her from trying, brave reckless little queen that she is. Sneaking about in the dark is something they both have experience with, but Toothiana is not making any efforts for a title versus someone who practically embodies the darkness itself. Regardless, she is fairly certain that footsteps will be quieter than beating wings, and so she approaches on foot. She could take the opportunity to try and strike him down. The thought crosses her mind as often as they cross paths { though she’s entirely certain the same could be said in reverse }. That is, of course, not what her impromptu visits and interruptions set out to accomplish however. They don’t really serve to accomplish anything - the usual push and pull, banter and threats could be considered a sum zero game - but improvised intentions tend to come fairly easy. Typically in the form of curiosity, as is the case now, when the queen puts an impossibly minuscule amount of weight on her hands in order to lean over Pitch’s sleeping form. Amethyst fixates on his face in the dark, looking for any sign of waking before she presses her ear to his chest and listens...
