The plot of Rune Factory 4 is strangely devastating when you think of it from Venti's perspective.
(major spoilers for most of the RF4 plot below)
One of the interesting things about Venti's death is that it isn't the result of anything unnatural like an illness or an artificial imbalance of runes. It was simply that as part of the natural cycle, the runes had begun to run dry and it was time for Venti to replenish them with her body. Which means that her death wasn't an unforseen tragedy, but the natural end of her life, sort of the divine dragon equivalent to dying of old age.
But of course, everyone fought to keep her alive. Friend after friend sacrificed themselves to keep a deity alive who should have died long ago. Even Frey/Lest volunteers to do the same and spends the entirety of the game fighting to keep her alive.
And you have to wonder how that feels for Venti, a divine dragon with a lifespan that's practically immortal in comparison to her mortal friends, watching them sacrifice the little time they have for her over and over again. All so that her vast life that would have naturally ended ages ago could hang on by a thread. How would it feel, to be a god that can do nothing to stop the constant sacrifices, to be someone so powerful and yet barely able to keep their own life. To always be caught in a cycle of facing an inevitable death only for it to be delayed yet again.
It's no wonder Venti tried to become distant. And it seems clear that some part of her hoped that it would all be over. The only thing she ever asks of you is that you free the Guardians, even though she knows it will weaken her to the point of death.
And then, after that cycle is finally broken, there's arc 3. How would Venti feel, knowing that Frey/Lest risked their life in so many ways just to bring her back. And with the rune spheres taking the place of the Guardians, it's permanent this time. At least, in a way. But who's to say what might happen to the spheres centuries out. Perhaps Venti might get caught in that cycle again. But more than that, to live again is to have to lose everyone she loved all over again, this time forever. The Guardians are not sealed away, but would be dead and truly gone, the way she was meant to centuries ago. Even you, the one who overcame every obstacle for Venti, had a lifespan that was a blip compared to hers.
So really, you have to wonder if Venti would have preferred to stay dead.
