Eucalyptus is considered clumsy due to how frequently they seem to accidentally injure herself, but once she's in the flow of things it's practically impossible for them to mess up. She's a devout worshiper of The Eye, often being the one to keep the Shrine in pristine condition with unquestionable reverence. She puts on a face of confidence in their teens, but that's by proxy to those around her - in reality, they're just incredibly anxious to prove everyone's rumors right.

Euca was born on Ember Twin with a genetic defect that positioned her third eye vertically instead of horizontally. While rare, it wasn't unheard of - but the abilities it seemed to offer later on were. Adults in her life noticed Euca appeared to possess a "6th sense" of sorts, making her more in tune with the stars and nature, such as accurately predicting how long it would take a tree to grow through mere observation, and when sand would fill the Sunless City hours before Ash Twin orbited. Ultimately, it was decided that the stress of the environment caused her to be born with a type of hyper-awareness and perceptiveness hardwired into her. Though, of course, that didn't stop the rumors that began to spread of Euca being "blessed" by The Eye, which indirectly led to her falling into her line of work later in life.
An anxious kid yet a smart one, she struggled in many ways - unable to focus or recall things properly, a constant need to fidget, and taking notes unrelated to what she was learning. All of which made her spiral into thinking the other kids and teachers thought she was incapable. Around the age of 8, she met Myoss, whose outspoken nature contrasted with Euca's emotional sensitivity and insecurities. Myoss fiercely defended Euca during petty wars with classmates, showed her unwavering kindness and patience, and never any judgment. Myoss offered an ear to Euca when she needed it, leading Euca to develop a crush on her in their early to mid-teens.
During the gathering where Euca was set to pair with a memory statue, it malfunctioned and refused to pair with her with no explainable cause. And despite being old enough to make her pilgrimage, Euca stayed behind to focus on Botany as a coping mechanism for her wavering faith in The Eye, feeling unworthy of being so close to her God when seeds of doubt were festering between Myoss' absence and her failed statue pairing. Euca only witnessed Myoss leave the Quantum Moon once prior to the Interloper imploding - meaning Euca passed away before they could truly spend time with each other again.

Oh I will never turn down a chance to yap about my creatures!!
I can't say too much about Cornus' entire character, as his past will be explored in Act 1 of RFTE. However what I CAN say is that he didn't adopt Solanum, but instead another OC of mine (and the mc of the comic) Myoss! I do understand the initial speculation tho as I purposefully made Myoss sort of a narrative foil to Solanum's canonical story
Cornus is honestly Just A Guy! He's a captain that's much more laid back than other clans may be. He does love exploring the stars and charting new planetary systems, but nowadays in his aging state he prefers to settle down on a single planet and watch over his companions and peers rather than direct or command them.
He tries his best to be a father figure to Myoss despite not knowing how to handle kids, much less a troubled teenager who has Some Things Going On With Her that he can't fully understand or help. But!! He tries!! And that's what counts!!
He gives Myoss stability and safety, and Myoss gives him a sense of purpose as he gradually accepts that he won't be able to lead the clan much longer.
