Worked on this for a bit and at first wanted to involves more characters but after ep 2 it felt fitting to stop at the main 2 npcs and the main pcs!
Anyways genuinely utterly obsessed with this campaign so far and I can not wait for the next episode!!! (Also a transparent and text version as little extras)
he was a good boy, y'all
the tragedy of rover's death is that it was so sudden, it was meaningless and had no purpose. pg tips is apathetic and moralless and rover's death needed to be abrupt and trivial to emphasise that complete inhumanity. additionally, it heightens the stakes for everything else — this is not plagueground where death is a sacrifice, but instead random and indiscriminate — pete, carlos, cheeky and maureen are not immortal or indestructible in the same way the four brave boys are. i think we'll see this mortality and destructibility in the finale in some major way, though we've already seen it a little with pete's loss of agency
hot take: killing off poe was more justified than rover.
sure, we'd built a lot more of a bond with poe, there was definitely some beautiful symbolism there, but. but. at least his death served a purpose. it was heartwrenching because it was a sacrifice, was it not?
my dear rover/danny, on the other hand, was also an npc dripping with insane potential, just like poe- the tragedy of the person that once was your everything not even recognising you when you're face to face? hello?? and then, blam, he gets fucking shot. we don't even have time to mourn him and it just feels so sudden.
i'm not saying rover shouldn't've died or that he's a better character than poe, but i do think he deserved a better death, y'all!
