the cool summer breeze was something she was longing to have. it had been weeks since she had last been outside. she sat in her room, her eyes locked on the window. her hair still wet from an early morning bath. bangs sticking to her forehead as the cool breeze caused a chill to creep down her spine. but this calming distraction didn’t last long as her mother came in her room to prepare her.
being royalty wasn’t much of a task. especially considering they had no real power in duur. so she just had to act ladylike to be viewed as acceptable. for today rei’s royal duties were to attend a meeting with some of the military from elv. she didn’t have to sit in during the meeting. but it was respectable that she greet the families who were to come here. as they were guests in duur.
her mother summons in maids to help dress rei. the princess sighs through the struggle of getting ready. she didn’t enjoy putting on the thick layers of padding, not to mention the pain of doing her hair. pulled up in a elaborate bun with various pins placed inside to hold it together. it was amazing she hadn’t lost her hair at this point.
by the time she was primped and primed in her lovely attire. there guests had arrived. the family, a few princes and princesses missing due to work, leaves the palace to greet their guests.
it may have been for a short time but the brief moment she spends outside, greeting their guests, was enough to brighten rei up for the rest of the day. her eyes glances at each of the guests faces. when she notices a girl. who looks a few years younger than her. she wonders what a child so young could be doing here.
it is later reviled to be one of the women’s daughter. as they venture back inside the grand palace for tea and conversation. the ‘children’ are left to talk amongst each other. rei’s other siblings not wanting to stick around, find other things to do. but rei’s place was to sit inside. not being able to leave her confounds. while her siblings enjoyed the wonders of the outside world. her eyes are met with the foreign girl. unsure of what to say the two are left in a never-ending silence it seemed. she had hoped that today would be a little more entertaining.
