FUCK
“I have to try to get the real you AND the real me back!”
Well, I’m glad she’s not taking it lying down, but good god the girls’ uniform doesn’t suit her. It feels... self-destructive.
Well, I’m emotionally wrecked. See you in a few days.
“You don’t need friends. You’re happy being alone, aren’t you?“
“Yes, I like being alone.”
But Utena didn’t tell her to say she wanted more friends-- she was even deflecting when she said it, talking about Chu-Chu being more fun than ten friends. Utena, you got through to her, you know you did. Just because this fucker can order her around doesn’t mean everything she said to you wasn’t real. Please, Utena, get her back, set her free.
Remember how I said a couple episodes ago that despite coming into this knowing these two were The Couple, I couldn’t really actively ship them yet?
uh
That’s all changed now.
they need each other so much
The balloons are hilarious but I’m really, really loving them calling him out. He’s the President, so I don’t know how much power they actually have against him, but I love that they’re making it very clear they’re not buying his bullshit.
WELL FUCK
That warmed my heart and then smashed it open. I don’t believe for a moment that Anthy has no feelings of her own, only that she’s not allowed to express them. Utena was genuinely getting through to her, I’m sure of it, but now she’s been scammed into believing her Prince is this misogynist, manipulative asshole, and that Anthy didn’t really love her like she was just starting to realize.
I don’t want to leave things this way. I’m going to see if I can do the next episode during the week, rather than waiting all the way until next weekend, because I’m on break from school and this hurts too much.
I’m going to watch the Next On, and then we’ll be done for the night.
That’s right, it’s not true!
It’s scary, though, how he’s making her out to be a genuine empty shell, like she has no actual feelings of her own. It’s an exaggeration of that whole misogynist expectation that a woman defines herself by her relationship, and it makes my blood boil and curdles the spit in my mouth.
