but they fcking scrapped the budget for contraceptives

and they wait for private institutions to do it

now that will make contraceptives more unaffordable for the poor

RH Bill & Tax

A few hours ago, I watched a documentary of GMA about an indigent 15-year-old girl who just gave birth. She said if she only knew about the RH Bill and contraceptives, she would have never been a young mom.

Oh hell no! You don’t need to learn about RH Bill and contraceptives at your age (actually you do) but you shouldn’t be using it yet at your age! You know what you need to learn? To keep your legs close. Do your homework. Help in doing the household chores.

You are already in poverty yet you’re going to bring another child you can’t feed.

Sorry but I am not willing to see my tax providing for the pleasures of those who are not even willing to help themselves. I really don’t care about the sex life of others but please, think first of the consequences. If you think you can provide then by all means, go ahead. Another child to be provided by the government, which is getting its fund from the tax of those working hard. I don’t want to be selfish but seeing some of those in poverty not doing anything to help themselves, or making their situation even worse? Our country already have enough problems, don’t add another problem.

The problem with studying in a Catholic University is that you are forced to study theology. Don't get me wrong I love my school, really. It offers a great Interior Design program. But the fact that you have to deal with professors who are kind of close minded about a lot of things especially those concerning sexuality and the ever controversial Reproductive Health (RH) bill in our country can really PISS YOU OFF. We have different views on things and I wish our professor would respect that instead of telling us that our "MENTALITY IS WRONG". I really got offended when he pointed out that THERE SHOULD BE NO SUCH THING AS GAY RIGHTS OR WOMEN'S RIGHT BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY HUMAN RIGHT because we're all human. The reason why these rights were created because PEOPLE DON'T RECOGNIZE THESE GROUPS AS 'HUMAN BEINGS'. They are treated 'LESS' because they belong to that said group. These rights were created because WE WANT OUR HUMANITY TO BE FUCKING RECOGNIZED? I remember a great quote from a feminist whose name escaped my mind. FEMINISM IS THE NOTION THAT WOMEN ARE HUMAN BEINGS TOO. (okay i know it's not the exact quote, but you get my drift, right?) and I want to add, SO ARE GAYS AND LESBIANS AND BI AND TRANS PEOPLE.

I was also fucking pissed when he pointed out that we have 'TWISTED PERCEPTIONS' about the RH bill and that it's wrong. I believe that it is a greater sin if we don't teach families, especially the less fortunate ones, family planning and just let them produce more children. The Church says that children are God's GIFT but we should also remember that the parents are also RESPONSIBLE for them. If these families would continue to produce and produce children WITHOUT HAVING THE CAPACITY TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR FOOD, SHELTER AND EDUCATION, isn't that a greater sin? 

As a bisexual person, a feminist and a supporter of the RH bill I was thoroughly offended. I get that we have different views about a lot of things but to point out that our "mentality is wrong" IS JUST WRONG. CAN'T WE JUST RESPECT EACH OTHER VIEWS?

This was an emotionally-demanding documentary project that we made for Filipino class back in 4th Year High School. A bit of a background: My high school was the Ateneo de Manila High School, which centers on Jesuit values. I was on the verge of having our proposed topic on the RH Bill changed, mainly because a documentary about this, coming from a Catholic school, would immediately appear to be biased, and any teacher we wanted to interview feared being thrown into the flame, especially with a recording device involved. So, instead of going with a technical angle on the RH Bill, my team chose to focus on the difficulty of discussing this sensitive topic in our Catholic school.

And, yes, the title is "+".

Interesting Note: According to my Filipino teacher, this documentary was supposed to be entered in a nation-wide high school documentary contest because we won first place in our school. However, since it was not Filipino-friendly enough to represent our Catholic school, they decided to enter the second placer instead.
