I never met a ship that despises its characters more than Rhaelya (Rhaegar/Lyanna) does:

-Rhaegar is reduced to an idiot in love who is willing to throw everything away in the name of his lust and Lyanna is reduced to a simpering ghost that dances happily to Rhaegar's tunes even if the corpses of her family are fresh.

I do sort of disagree, mostly because rhegar and lyanna love does drive the plot.

@rhegar yes there’s wolves without teeth, dirty paws could be about wolves, six weeks mentions a wolf, your bones is vaguely Stark, yellow light mentions a “howling beast”, hunger ALSO mentions a wolf, human is animalistic so you could sub in a wolf for the “animal”

She’s dead, sorry. (Gregor killed her, almost certainly.) She died young. She probably never got old enough to be tall. :(

The fandom really underestimates how traumatized Rhaegar actually was: He was born from failed prophecy, after his family was burned to a crisp in Summerhall. Then, he has to witness his father succumb to madness and his mother be humilliated, raped and birthing dead baby after dead baby.

All this pain and suffering, it had to be for something. It had to mean something; This is why he took Lyanna, not out of love or lust, but because he sought to prove that the Prince that was Promised prophecy that led to his birth was real and worth any measure of sacrifice, so that the suffering his family went through had some meaning.

Rhaegar wasn't operating rationally, but on an apocalyptic ticking time bomb.

I feel like rhegar is set up as a failure version of Daenerys, same thing like rhenrya
