In an AU where Tomura Shigaraki survived the final AFO takeover, leaving his body broken and quirkless, he resides in a rehab facility where he rests. Deku visits weekly, and though Tomura would prefer he were left alone with a life that is finally his own, he humors it. I drew this comic last year, but I rewrote and redrew some of the faces I wasn't really proud of at the time. Even back in 2021, I was imagining this comic. I saw AFO as a cancer, and as a survivor myself, all I wanted was to give Tomura peace, even with the pain.

Watched a documentary about abuse and advice one guy said to give children was, "Tell them that if someone is hurting them, to tell someone - and don't just tell one person. Tell as many people as possible, and keep telling as many people as possible until the abuse stops." and i really liked that

Bc so many ppl focus on the idea of telling A Trusted Adult, but even a well-meaning individual can fuck up and let abuse fall through the cracks or not know what to do

Whereas if a child tells LOADS of adults AND other kids, there's far less opportunity for an abuser to do damage control

Consistently telling their story and spreading it around disempowers the abuser to control and coerce the flow of information, or to utilise gaps and weaknesses in systems of reporting or welfare to isolate the child

Just really good advice. Not suprised I don't hear it more often.

All Might rose in a time of fear, when people needed to believe that things would turn out alright in order to move forward, and so he became a symbol of peace—his strength was a comfort to everyone. Because of him, society was able to come out of a state of chaos and stabilize.

But Midoriya was born in the era of complacency that followed. If he became the same symbol of peace that All Might was, then society would stagnate. Another strong OFA user would just reassure society that the heroes have everything handled, that they don’t need to intervene, and that they didn’t have enough power to help even if they wanted to.

That’s why his loss of OFA (a terrible thing in itself!!) is going to work out for the ultimate good of everyone. It actually frees Midoriya to wield the power he was born with—the ability to inspire other people to act. I don’t think it’s an accident that he was quirkless in his rising chapter. When people see Midoriya running to save, even without any power, they loose any excuse for complacency they had. They feel compelled to do the same.

That power—the connection of hearts that formed OFA in the first place—is greater than any quirk. It’s what makes Midoriya the greatest hero.

TWILIGHT CONTINUES TO CALL BULLSHIT ON YOUR ASSIGNED GENDER ROLES, 11/10, WHAT A FUCKING MAN

And oh my god YES, that little moment there: ALL THE YES! That was a small outburst that he had to stand up for Yor- no, not his fake wife Yor, who he is married to solely to get Anya into this school, that was for Yor herself. He’s starting to lose sight of where the line keeping himself separated from her is, and I’m absolutely delighted by it, because it shows that he’s starting to truly care about her.

Jesus this fucker is really bitter- I really don’t know what this sort of reaction is, honestly, when I see a happy lovely cute couple I just smile and go “Yeeeeeees~ You guys do you! That’s the stuff”

But alas, some people aren’t happy when others are happy… As expected, he’ll be their obstacle, but fret not, for he too shall submit under the power of their love and that gun that Twilight brought with him.

Yor's entire character and her reasoning for agreeing to a fake marriage is actually meant to be a subversive social commentary on how society expects people, especially women, to Peak before 25 and if they haven't "settled down" in a typical Married with Children lifestyle and had love experience, then clearly there is something wrong with them. Her anxiety about being the "perfect wife" is enhanced by this societal pressure because shes 27 years old and has no dating experience and is consistently ridiculed for it. In this essay I will-

Furthermore, Yor Forger’s insistence on playing the role of a perfect housewife is also Endo Sensei’s social commentary on how Japanese and Western societies expect women to play traditional gendered roles, which is further exacerbated by the Cold War type setting. Not only are women expected to be fulfilled as a housewife, they should also be glad to occupy such a role. Post Cold War gendered roles centralize around the idea that women who work in times of peace are considered “destabilizing and threatening” to the heterosexual, male-dominated patriarchal standard. We see this statement reflected explicitly in the first episode when Yor’s colleagues were discussing how women who live by themselves and work are considered spies that are sent from the West to lower the country’s birth rate. This isn’t a funny anime thing, this was an actual phenomena during and post Cold War where women who didn’t participate in their expected role as a mother and housewife were considered unpatriotic and a danger to domestic stability. Yor’s struggle to occupy such a role is not a flaw within her, that Loid points out and reminds her of right away, but rather the flaw of the systems surrounding them. Endo Sensei also subverts traditional gendered roles by making Loid the main caretaker of the household, which in part plays along with patriarchal standard in terms of men “providing” for the family, but also provides a balanced and equal opportunity for both to play at their strengths. For example, Yor may not be good at cooking, however she is a very good parental figure, much better than Loid in that regard. In a way, Endo Sensei’s portrayal of the Forger family aligns with much of the points outlined by The Feminine Mystique, which brought on the second wave of Feminism post World War II. Housewives are used as political propaganda by the patriarchy to continue the illusion of normalcy, and our eccentric family (at least internally) is a direct opposition to it.

I see some criticism for the gender roles present in SxF and I find most of them to be unfounded.

1. SxF is explicitly set in a conservative country that uses those values to maintain state power (ie. Women without husbands being suspected spies). Occassionally people confuse the rhetoric of the story environment with the rhetoric of the series itself

2. Yor's role in the family is more traditionally masculine, something which is pointed out early on. She struggles to cook, help Anya study, and take care of the dog. Her bread and butter is in her response to things, as she is more experienced with childrearing than Loid and acts quickly on instinct when he gets tied up in thoughts.

3. The contrast between Yors household contributions and the social expectations of women is the exact point. The country -is- sexist and Yor is an example of how country social policies =/= the citizens reality
