If Hinata is the captain, he will be Bokuto 2.0… I guess there is a possibility. I agree Yama is the best choice. Perhaps people overlook him because he lacks authority right now. They forget he has shown that he is much stronger than he looks
For all that Tsukishima rags on Kageyama's teamwork he also isn't much of a team player, right? His communication style p. much works for only Yamaguchi, who then has to translate all of it for the rest of the team. Granted, he still has the rest of his first year and all of his second to develop, but honestly, I also can't really imagine him wanting to be captain? It's a well-recorded fact that he hates putting in extra effort. Kuroo and Bokuto are doing their best to get him out of that mindset, but they are 1) not on his team and 2) will be retiring after this year.
Hinata as Bokuto 2.0 though... Now I kind of want to see that... Hinata would be a mood-making captain though definitely, and probably less whimsical than Bokuto is. For Hinata his stumbling block would probably be that he doesn't really have enough game sense to help other developing players and that he works best with people who respond to his enthusiasm.
Kageyama... just. No. No way.
Meanwhile Yamaguchi knows how to handle p. much all of the other first years, has enough initiative to reach out to people and ask them to teach him things when he's aware of gaps in his skill set and has both a lot of patience and a lot of drive. He'd be able to coach both really skilled players and manage them as a team as well as motivate people who are less goal-driven.
