I think it's pretty interesting how the messages from 20+ years ago--YES..."School Daze" came out in 1988...let that marinate lol--tend to reverberate so loud & clear in THIS day & age. #WakeUpWednesday (WUW), Edition 006: 5/13/15 Today's WUW is for the men. My brothers, in my short 30-something (😏) years on this planet, there's one thing I know for sure: there is a DIVINE ORDER to the Universe and how it works. My personal experience has revealed some truths that have made me who I am today, but also challenge me to become a better me on a daily basis. We as MEN were created & built to LEAD, in other words, to SERVE by EXAMPLE. It's in our DNA, from our physiological makeup to our natural physical strength. 'Forget' the police; WE are the original purveyors of SERVE & PROTECT. It's just what we're called to do. Here's the breakdown of the two truths that have inspired this post: 1. Until my LIFE is in order, my HOUSE won't be in order. My intentions have literally ALWAYS been good, Noble, what-have-you; but because of some poor decision-making along my journey, dating back to pre- & young adulthood, my life has periodically and semi-consistently been in disarray. I had to back the choice to GO BACK and GET MY LIFE IN ORDER. 2. Until my HOUSE is in order, my COMMUNITY won't be in order. What kind of example of 'community leadership' would I be in trying to lead other members of my community, be it my household, my neighboring area, or...let's saaaaay...my hip-hop community, IF I DONT HAVE MY OWN HOUSE IN ORDER? For those that know me, this explains why I haven't been very 'active' in leading my 'movement' (#RHHIB). I've been getting my OWN house in order, establishing proper foundation so that I can effectively serve my community moving forward. This message was directed to the men, inspired by my own journey as a man; however, it applies to females as well. My sisters, these are PRINCIPLES that I know you can gain from as well in your own lives--follow Divine Order. Additionally, for your husbands/significant others, for your sons, and--believe it or not--for how you choose to deal with your men. I love and appreciate you all. Your feedback is not only welcome, but graciously needed. Let's build the human community properly. I've started with self and I'm seeing results. Stay Tuned, One Love! @BIGRECspeaks
