Freshers week from a 'mature student's point of view

Being 28 I'm considered a 'mature student' so was nervous and excited about the first week of university. I'd heard that Freshers week was a must to go to and get involved with everything.

So, once I got the timetable through I had a look at what was going on. If I'm being honest, I was excited to get 'a years worth supply of pens, toilet paper etc' 😂

So off I went, attended the must lectures, enrolled and received my student ID card. Since I'm on a language course, the event I was most interested in was the language fair however, once I turned up, nothing much was going on. Just a few stalls for each language in a very small hallway. All I experienced was recieving a keyring, pen and a leaflet. £10 worth of petrol to realise that Freshers week is only for the clubbers and recently legal teenagers. So, I didn't end up going to anything else. I did however pick up a booklet from the student union stall which had an abundant of events happening during the year to get involved in. A lot of things I was interested in like rock climbing, going to a museum etc but they were on days I work. But that was definately the best thing I got.

Any way, for me personally, Freshers week was over hyped. But certainly gave me the chance to walk around campus and get accustomed to University campus.
