Like a duck

For the past three years that I've been developing my craft as a writer and working with the elderly on the side of course, I've been slowly but surely toughening my skin, letting  it harden and strengthen into a scaly and worry-resistant rhino hide as I take in  all the harsh criticism, hyper-analytical comments on my work and the senility and extreme stubbornness from the old folks.

I see myself now as a duck, with an ability to let moments of extreme annoyance, anger and disappointment slide off the back of my neck like a rain drop on one of my favourite water birds.

Petty problems and conflicts, especially those that come from the more aggressive and confrontational are quite small, insignificant and petty like rain drops.
