I absolutely positively completely forgot to crosspost my rhodeytony month posts from twitter SO !! If you didn’t know, this past November was RhodeyTony month and the theme was seasons of love!! So ! Without further ado I present:
RhodeyTony Seasons of Love
Week 1- Spring
Day 1 - Who tends to the garden and who isn’t allowed near plant life?
Well let’s talk about it right? I mean Tony loves loves loves gardening. It’s something his mama had taught him to do from the time he was a kid and it was one of the things he regretted not keeping up with immediately following her death. He clearly has a soft spot for doing the handiwork and Rhodey isn’t at all surprised to find a garden on the patio of their first apartment after college. Rhodey on the other hand, has killed far too many plants and by order of Mama Rhodes is no longer allowed near any plant life. Of course that’s an exaggeration but when he’s with his Mama? Well no siree he is not allowed near any of her plants. This becomes a funny moment for them because soon enough, when Rhodey is home enough after his first five-year deployment, Tony finally sits down and teaches Rhodey the basics of manning a garden. He gets it. Barely. And it’s funny because Rhodey eventually gets a tattoo of a purple dwarf iris — the flower Tony always has growing for him in their garden. As time goes on, the garden becomes a staple of who they are and how they care for each other in their relationship. And when Tony dies, Rhodey is left to care for the garden. It withers sometimes. It wavers in confidence. He shakes a lot. But he keeps the purple dwarf irises up. No matter what, his will always have those in their garden.
