I’ve seen a lot of people on Tumblr ask for assistance on Gofundme, Amazon wishlists, Kickstarter, and everything else. I know how much good you all do, and it’s heartwarming to see.
That’s why I was wondering if I could receive some help on something: I’m really trying to get scholarship money. I am a hard worker, I write essays, I keep my grades high (I made the dean’s list last semester), and I’m passionate about my education and learning. My college is fairly expensive, and I only have about half of the $44,000 tuition paid through scholarship and loans (which are painful enough, as many-a-student knows), and it’s not easy.
Currently I am a sophomore in college, studying political science, with a double-minor in philosophy in music. After I graduate, I want to attend law school and become a lawyer, one who works with artists and represents them, so they can pursue their passions.
I can only post a short description on my page, and here it is for you all to read:
I WANT TO HELP ARTISTS PURSUE THEIR PASSIONS
I loved growing up in the arts community, but never considered myself an artist. Yet I watched my friends work hard to excel at what they loved, and I found that I loved working with them--artists, dancers, performers, and musicians--and I found that I could help them in ways I can do the most good and love it: as an entertainment lawyer.
I’m not asking for money, but what I really need are your votes. I don’t expect to earn the grand prize of $100,000 in scholarships (though it would be an absolute dream if I did), so if you can vote for me by the last day of each month through December OR vote by January 11th, 2016. (The official rules can be found here)
I’m reaching out to all of you, asking for your help and support, especially to the vast community of artists, writers, musicians, dancers, and wonderful, wonderful supporters of the arts.
So, please reblog and vote!
