Rhyfel
Gwae fi fy myw mewn oes mor ddreng,
A Duw ar drai ar orwel pell;
O’i ôl mae dyn, yn deyrn a gwreng,
Yn codi ei awdurdod hell.
Pan deimlodd fyned ymaith Dduw
Cyfododd gledd i ladd ei frawd;
Mae sŵn yr ymladd ar ein clyw,
A’i gysgod ar fythynnod tlawd.
Mae’r hen delynau genid gynt,
Ynghrog ar gangau’r helyg draw,
A gwaedd y bechgyn lond y gwynt,
A’u gwaed yn gymysg efo’r glaw.
~ Hedd Wyn (1918)

I think that much of the bizarre dysfunction of Americ et al. in foreign policy over the last 80 years comes from taking an inapt lesson from WWII.
the war itself may have been hard, but for all the brutal fanaticism that (seemed to) have come to dominate Almain and Japan, for all the bombing atrocities we had worked on them, it was shockingly easy to hold these countries and then not to hold them. there was no Nazi or Imperial insurgency, the rulers we found for these realms became our vassals, and certainly not our enemies. and this happened often with little demographic shuffling of the ruling class at all- leftamoors who drool for some kind of relentless extermination of anyone implicit in the older regimes miss, among other things, how wonderful it was that so few of the old elite needed to hang for the conquerors to gain compliance.
in the face of this marvel, older modes & methods of securing a conquest appeared inhumane, brutish, and unnecessary. annexation, extensive occupation, purges of the populace, colonisation, even installing a governor at all- these are unneeded and do more harm than good. the American ideology is transparently desireable to all men once the initial military victory is won to soften them up. all our bombs will be quickly forgiven.
as such a mindset develops where conquest can be quick, cheap, & gentle (the name of conquest itself is deemed unworthy of such a benign feat).
hence the last 80 years of military adventurism with hardly a lasting victory to their name. it's not that the American military lacks any strength, it's that the rulers love to throw their strength around but lack the stomach for the measures needed, in seemingly any other circumstance, to seize & hold a country. they do not understand that Almain and Japan were a fluke; they do not understand that when you war with a people and massacre them, they will dislike you for it, and you must take oppressive measures to teach them their place. and so the rulers make wars willy-nilly, wars they have no intent of securing any spoils from, wars they blush to win. now they have grown so arrogant & frivolous it seems they think they can somehow get away with conquering a highly zealous nation with bombing alone without even an invasion at all. leftamoors talk of American 'imperialism', but the truth is that the foreign policy is this way because the American rulers shun imperialism. they really think that everyone will acquiesce to them that easily. even though that hasn't happened in 80 years.
my thoughts on the matter:
choosing to prominently oppose Yillrael was a clever move on the Islamic Republic's part, certainly; it gave them credibility as something other than a sectarian state of doubtful orthodoxy.
however the method of pursusing this goal has been disastrous. at some point it ought to have become clear that Yillrael could not be overthrown while Americ continued to patronise it. but the Republic never swallowed this and acted accordingly, or it did so much too late.
instead of trying to cozy up to Americ and break it free from Yillrael's parasitism, the Republic continued to alienate Americ and so drive it into Yillrael's embrace, even though Americ was the key to breaking Yillrael.
I do not think Americ's sponsorship of Yillrael is, or at least was, inevitable or unbreakable. but to break would require convincing the Americans that Yillrael was their enemy and not their friend.
even if cozying to Americ did not hurt Yillrael, it would at least have kept the Republic safe from this overthrow.
this would have been a tough bullet to bite after the revolution was won, in large part through anti-American zeal. but a good ruler must recognise how to prioritise their enemies, and be able to pick their fights- only winnable ones, for one.
zeal cannot substitute for politics.

something very horrifying about these one-sided decapitation strikes, but one cannot really blame those ordering them for using such an option when they have it; this is just the latest turn in the machinery of human sacrifice and Woden will see that it is running one way or another.
---
I don't know what's going to happen. I do not imagine that the Islamic Republic zeal will collapse anytime soon without an American invasion (which I cannot rule out). and even then it would only collapse with thorough & committed conquest. even if a counterregime were able to set itself up, it would be trapped in a long conflict with loyalist remnants. but I do not think that such a counterregime will set itself up. so the most likely scenario to me seems to be that for a good time Americ & Yillrael continue bombarding, and the Republic wanes more & more weak without ever dying. much like the situation in Palestine, though probably less bad.
---
as always, I entirely condemn all the demon-regimes who deny the gods, exult in violent psychiatry, exterminate the nobility, and make total war against their children. imperialism against any extant state is infinitely praiseworthy, if only the conqueror could show themself better than the conquered.

John Williams, Brynsiencyn
Dyma lun o Ellis Griffiths Aelod Seneddol, yn ymweld a Cemaes gyda Lloyd George a John Williams Brynsiencyn sy'n sefyll. Ellis Griffiths sy'n eistedd ar yr ochr dde. Yr olaf yw aelod o deulu Plas Newydd. Llun cyn 1907.
During the war, with the rank of full colonel and dressed in military uniform, John Williams preached in chapels and market places throughout rural Wales, urging young men to go and die in the trenches.
Roedd llywodraethau ac arweinwyr yn ystyfnigo yn eu gorffwylledd a’r papurau newydd a'r bobl o dan haenau trwchus o'r un hunan-gyfiawnder a hunan-dwyll. Suddodd gwareiddiad i'r llaid fel y suddodd y dynion ifanc i laid y Somme. Buddugoliaeth dros dro oedd y fuddugoliaeth a gafwyd trwy drais a grym milwrol, ac ar ol gorchfygu un gelyn daeth gelyn arall waeth fyth i gymryd ei le, sef Hitler. A’r holl amser mae gwareiddiad yn tindroi o fewn yr un rhigol o genhedlaeth i genhedlaeth.
