He really didn’t, for once. Alec was grocery shopping (restocking condoms and lube) when he almost-but-not-quite bump into Rhys, after what he thought was a mildly awkward parting some time ago when he had a hole in his thigh. People tended to forget their charisma when they were bleeding profusely, he reasoned.

Alec wasn’t bleeding now, so he put on his trademark grin, and leaned into the other man’s personal bubble. “You know, that thank-you blowjob is still on the table, if you wanna cash it in.”

“Didn’t think I’d see you again.” He said, indifference soaked his voice the same way blood was seeping from the wound on his thigh. “Go away now, nothing to see here.” It was frustrating enough to be turned down once, Alec didn’t need the extra embarrassment of Rhys witnessing possibly one of his worst moments, laying in a pool of his own blood in a back alley, hidden behind a dumpster. He had already called help, but his smashed phone stopped working halfway, and his best hope was that his family would find him before the enemy did. Just another day in his ordinary life, really.
