I’ve always felt that some of Bobby’s characters may have been inspired by Gilda Radner.  Let’s take a look at Riblet.  One thing that I always took notice of was the hair, like if his hair wasn’t tied up the way it is, then it could almost look as poofy as Roseanne Roseannadanna.  Also, both characters tend to annoy the hell out of an update anchor.  Roseanne annoys Jane Curtin while Riblet annoys Michael Che.  The only major difference is that Riblet tends to show up unannounced while Roseanne is supposed to be there to answer a question (from Mr. Richard Feder of Fort Lee, New Jersey) but ends up telling some disgusting story.

Now with Anthony Crispino, he’s the character that gets his news secondhand and has everything wrong.  It sort of reminds me of Emily Litella, who tends to get her editorials messed up.  I always like to think that if any SNL characters are related, Emily would’ve been Anthony’s Grandmother or something and supplying him with bad information.

I don’t know exactly how Bobby came up with any of those characters, but they’ve always reminded me of Gilda and her update characters.
