The sight was not pleasant for the moonkin and Worgen Priestess. Picking herself and Ricardyan up quickly, Oregano moved as swiftly in the direction of the woman as possible, preparing first to pull her behind anything that could serve as protection, and then to channel healing magic into her. The young moonkin did not hesitate to take cover with his mother. Although the healing magic did seal the wounds, the form rested limp and unresponsive, almost lifeless. The child offered the touch of nature that he could, limited by his form, in desperation. Yet the body being flung did not go unnoticed. Several soldiers approached the cover with axes and rifles, one yelling out. "Death is all that's left for you, human! We WILL have those weapons!"
"I need time, Ricardyan--do not hesitate to strike, I will shield you and continue to mend..." She quickly cast a shielding spell on Ricardyan and focused her most powerful spells into Ric. With a nod, the moonkin stepped out of hiding to hold their foes at bay. Instantly a storm of lead, fire, and steel showered the child. The shield held to the storm as the child retaliated with a hail of stars and celestial fire from above. Yet the shield met its match when a hulking monster of an armored Orc, carrying a heavy, spiked warhammer with one hand, charged at the child, smashing through the shield to pin him to the wall!
"The strongest of body are often the weakest of mind...forgive me, but I cannot allow you to harm my son." Oregano turned, pausing only briefly in her healing of Ricardys to focus a sharp blast of psychic energy into the mind of the Orc.
The Orc slowly turned his head to face the Priestess, his left hand holding the child to the wall by the throat. A scarred eye pierces through the Priestess' gaze, feeling her will try to pry at his mind. "You forget where you are, mutt." His hand did release the child, but now he was focused on her instead, marching slowly to her. "Those of weak will do not survive here."
Oregano smiled sadly, her voice sincere. "Yet it is not will that those who hunger ever for war temper. To kill is always the easiest path--maintaining peace...now that, requires mental fortitude." She raises a hand, a beam of psychic energy strong enough to ripple the air around it blasting into the Orc's forehead, prying inside* "Embracing death does not make you stronger indeed, it only makes you more of an animal than I could ever be."
"GRRR..." The Orc clutched his head to the sharp pain that surged through it. In that moment of distraction, the child casted away the moonkin form to reveal that of a young boy appearing human in nature. Sneaky, but swift, a surge of nature spilled into the fallen Ricardys with a thrust of the child's arms upward! Oregano took the opportunity to clench her fist, the beam suddenly coalescing and detonating in the Orc's mind with a word of death. "To live by death is only to embrace it all the sooner. If only there had been another way."
The Orc knew well what death meant. "Yes... AND YOU WILL JOIN ME!" In a moment of desperation through the mental trauma, the Orc charged through to grasp at Oregano's neck and pin her down! Yet it was not her neck that would feel the grip of death. Ricardys, with life renewed and her inner fire blazing, snapped forward to grip the Orc by his neck!
"No, just you alone." With one swift tug, the Orc's head met the hardened wall, the skull cracked open as he fell over limp.
Oregano sighed. "To fight without love, to have only a passion in hatred and bloodlust... I will never understand such desires. Are you alright?"
The crimson plated woman, with wounds purged by the healing from both her wife and child, smiled to her beloved, taking the Orc's warhammer at hand. "Had it not been for you two, I would have met death defending those I love and care for. We should make haste, though. That warship is waiting to send its raiding party over, and they're far worse than the grunts here."
Oregano nodded. "We must make for a more fortified position, one out of range of their cannons."
The young child returned to his moonkin form, looking around. The Orcs that were surrounding them were starting to clear out. "Um... mom? Dad? We oughta go this way. I think the big boat's gonna shoot."
"Yes, likely with as much firepower as it can muster--take cover!" the Priestess cried out. The child didn't hesitate to let out an adorable bellow of a roar, surging through his veins a burst of speed. With a quick jolt and leap, the moonkin took cover towards where he entered with his mother. The big cannon unloaded an Iron Star straight for the cover Ricardys and Oregano were using!
Oregano's eyes narrowed. Having watched the explosives in action many times, by now, the knowledge of how to stop it sprang into action as she drew a wand and aimed squarely, firing a bolt into the heart of the Star while it was still at range. "Impact...that will deton..." She dropped abruptly, waiting for the shower of shrapnel to cease.
Ricardys knew well that they wouldn't waste time with one shot. "We'd better move before they fire again." She nodded once to Oregano before charging through the instant the shrapnel shower ceased.
Oregano turned briefly to make sure Ricardyan was in sight before moving quickly as well. The young moonkin awaited the two a distance away, closer to where they entered the docks. Turning around revealed several Orcs with rifles aimed at him. "Uh--oh?" Yet behind the Orcs were three figures, one encased in shadows with a silent screech. Instantly, the four suddenly scattered, dropping weapons in fear, screaming for their lives. Heading toward the boy were an Arakkoan Talonpriest, a Dwarven Death Knight, and a Saberon.
Without pausing, Oregano glanced at Ricardys. "Explosions do not seem to discriminate, it seems..."
Ricardys looked over beyond the boy to see three familiar faces, smiling. "I think a bird decided to screech their ears out. That would be our ticket out of here. Let's head back to my garrison before we have more to deal with."
Oregano picks up the pace, not wasting the window of opportunity. "They could call this the land of running and screaming, at this rate..."
"C'mon!" The Dwarf hollared, waving the Bloodblaze trio over. "This way! We got ye some gryphons waitin'!" Ricardys and Ricardyan followed suit, the triad that recently arrived leading everyone out of the Iron Docks towards a cliffside. Indeed, gryphons waited with plenty of cover to stay hidden to take everyone away from the place and back to Shadowmoon Valley.
"Now we hope there's a garrison still standing..." the Priestess noted with concern.
"Should be, unless we pissed someone else off..." Upon arrival, the garrison was standing... but this time with Sentinels covering the garrison entirely, as well as what appeared to be a few siege tanks! "Huh... they finally started buildings tanks."
"Would that they were not needed. By this war's end, will Draenor's preservation have saved more lives, or cost them, I wonder..."
She nodded, looking towards the Dwarf as they landed. "Take charge for me, and make sure we're staying low for the time being. I'll be in touch once I get my things back." A deep sigh of relief escaped the woman before facing her beloved and child. "Garrosh's mess doesn't seem to end, it seems. Ever since the Horde gave him one chance, everything's been going to hell no matter where we go. I'd like to see war end."
"I suspect the Iron Horde, as great of a threat as they are, is only the prelude, love. This Timestream's Archimonde and Kil'jaeden will not take kindly to being spurned by the orcs, and I can only guess where that will lead." Ricardys nodded to her love's warning.
The young child looked up to the two, tilting his head. "But if we don't stop the baddies, then there'd be nobody left."
"If it comes to dealing with the Legion, we may wish to talk to Sethiel and Kallanas--they would both have rather unique insights, there." Oregano's words of wisdom were something to think of, but for now Ricardys saw a break in the fighting that should be used.
"Indeed, but for now let's enjoy this moment together back in Darnassus before I get some alliance big wig sitting me down with a thousand accusations in the form of questions. No doubt they'll be mad about what happened." Ricardyan nodded to Ricardys' suggestion, immediately heading to their home in Darnassus to gather Ricardys' belongings.
"I will be glad to join you there...even a moment of calm in the face of such aggression is to be treasured." Oregano nodded, especially given how Ricardys was often at the front of the battles in Draenor.
Ricardyan took the moment to get Ricardys' belongings for her, conveniently in one bag. The two 'Ricks' drew out their hearthstones, looking to Oregano. "Shall we?"
Oregano smiled, drawing out her own hearthstone. "Indeed. Let us return home, if only for a while." Although the young moonkin and crimson-plated woman used their hearthstones, they also had them set to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria. Fortunately, it was only a quick walk to a portal to Darnassus, directly to the Temple of Elune at that.
