The most interesting part about researching the Fiat 2000 comes mostly from the fact that due to the lack of heavy tanks in 1918 Italian high command thought that only light tank were necessary as well as armoured car, thus never really pushing for a modernization or for heavier vehicles until 1940. Thus, despite being the 4th nation in the world to design, develop, test and build a tank, Italy remained far behind other key players of ww2 (situation worsened by the relatively percentage of industries and the fact that a lot of scientists and engineers fled Italy during fascism).
