Artists Give Kids A Positive Spin

Give a Beat partnered with LA music project We Are The Movement at their monthly house music dance party for a skill-sharing session with international DJs, including Richard Vission and two-time DMC champ DJ Klever.

It’s no secret that kids love to push buttons and learn new things. That’s why music technology—DJ gear, music hardware, keyboards, beat boxes—are awesome teaching tools; it literally puts music in young people’s hands.

For at-risk or disadvantaged youth music can connect them to a new skill set and provide positive social connections. Kids learn to collaborate with each other and enjoy a rewarding artistic outlet, all while grooving to some killer tracks.

Give a Beat partnered with Los Angeles project We Are The Movement at their monthly house music dance party for skill-sharing session with international DJs, including Powermix DJ Richard Vission and two-time DMC champ DJ Klever. Youth took turns working on Native Instruments production program Maschine Studio and Traktor DJ software; they also sampled Apple’s Logic Pro, and Pioneer CDJ gear.

Give a Beat was honored to support We Are The Movement’s outreach with youth in foster and probation care and see smiles on kids faces as their ideas came to life. Look for more collaborations like this in coming months.
