(I serve as the leader of the media ministry in EPIC student ministries, the youth ministry of Right Direction Church International), the words came to me very clear right after Pastor Chandler was emphasizing the fact that many people have forgotten their most intimate encounters with God. Upon hearing this, I was reminded of what God originally spoke to me a little over three years ago, “focus on the priorities of my Kingdom and I’ll focus on the priorities of your life” which I also interpret as a reiteration of Matthew 6:33. I live my life by these words consistently putting God’s priorities before my own and He’s never failed me in doing that. However today, with the words He said to me today -also the title of this post- “Focus on your heart, let me focus on your life” it brought new light to the meaning of this concept. In this statement I realized God showing that me putting Him first comes from my heart, but this shouldn’t be identified as my WHOLE heart, because my whole heart towards Him isn’t just me serving Him. It’s my intimate fellowship with Him as a whole -with EVERY AREA of my life. This, I had allowed to become stagnant, while being overly concerned with the areas of my life that don’t look the way I want them to look at this moment. But this doesn’t change who God is, nor should it alter my fellowship or cause my life to ever become routine. As I meditate on this I focus on positioning my heart towards God more in form of worship, thanks and gratefulness, allowing Him to change ME in the situation and allowing Him to focus on the situations in my life that look bad, as I continue to position my heart towards Him. With this post I hope I encourage you to do the same.
