SUMMER FOOTBALL CONDITIONING
I understand the temptation to go out for a "run" during the weeks leading up to football camp. Or the ever pressing coach that wants his or her team to be "in shape" so they condition their players based on milage.
Doing so (jogging) is counterproductive towards your goals. Remember to think about the very physical requirements and attributes that are necessary to excel on the gridiron. SPEED...
This is not a debate about sprinters vs. marathoners. It IS science and it is logic.
You must be able to apply great force into the ground. You must be able to accept, redirect and project your body based on unpredictable circumstances.
All of the above has nothing in common with the slow steady-state jog.
Focus on the TII fast twitch muscle fibers and proper energy system development to reach your goals.
Oh and by the way... you'll shed unwanted fat and you'll be "in shape"!
