Petition for the PJO fandom stop referring to Rick Riordan as 'Uncle Rick'
Rick writing about diversity
Diversity had beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. He was great at sports and he was really smart and all the girls were constantly all over him. He was a son of Zeus with amazing powers and he was the strongest man in the entire camp. He was so powerful, all the gods other than Zeus bowed down at his presence. He tamed Hades himself and now the Underworld is safe. Diversity had a great girlfriend with big boobs who loved makeup. They argue a lot, and Diversity lost his freedom when he eventually married her, but they have a great relationship. Diversity also spent decades at the Locus Hotel and Casino, and he was born in 1776, so you know he’s a man with good morals. He was 15 when he went there, and he finally left about 2 years ago but he’s magically aged up 7 years. Diversity was loved by all.

this idea that if you enjoy something from a creator you are no longer allowed to form your own opinions on their problematic behavior is toxic and idiotic on a level i didn’t know was humanly possible! the entire point of this hellsite is to be able to share your opinions and creations. it becomes even more ridiculous when the creator in question is a filthy rich white man. he doesn’t need (or probably want) your sheep mentality and blind worship and its ridiculous that you’re harassing people for calling him out for things that personally hurt them. it doesn’t progress anything whatsoever. i really do hope that you grow out of whatever phase you have currently immersed yourself in! form your own opinion, evaluate both sides of the issue, and if you still feel the same? great! that is none of my business. just like it’s none of your business that people who believe in the other side of the issue decide to express their hurt.
Out of curiosity, (about your uncle Rick post) 1) why did the fandom start referring to him as Uncle Rick and 2) why does it need to stop?
Look, I’m just going to answer this because all of you were politics but the truth is that this is an old post that I only brought back because it appeared again in my radar.
Anyway, if you want to keep calling that man ‘uncle’ do it, at the end of the day, who am I to say as you should call him, right? I’m nobody but still I find it annoying when people call him 'Uncle Rick’ but it’s because the kind of people who call him that way are the fans who defend him to death and are not able to understand that when we criticize him, it is because we have fundamentals and we still love the chcaracters/story but we can be also criticals of what we read? Normally people who call him 'uncle rick’ are offended when I or others criticize Rick and are not able to see the ignorant things that man has done/said with his characters and are the kind of profile that try to justify him or even take the things that man does as jokes like 'Oh no, uncle Rick kill my fave lol’ and I find that annoying and it is more a personal opinion but I hate that people are so defensive with him. That man does not need anyone to defend him but him need to hear that when many of his lectors say 'hey, what you did here is very ignorant’ is not because we hate the saga or the characters, it is because we feel hurt.
do you think jasiper breaking up made sense? their relationship was so weird in this book, it just seemed off like it wasn’t meant to happen.
Let's start from the basis that nothing Riordan writes about makes any sense lately. So while I've always been a partisan of Jason and Piper breaking up, the way Riordan wrote it was bad? He could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had thought while writing HOO, but instead he decided to fix the error of five books into one.
Honestly and with a hand in my heart I must say that I was reading certain posts in my dash about Riordan and I didn't understand what was happening? But I went to my 3 head blogs to find out what was going on and oh my kids, i'm so sad?
I do not want to sound repetitive and say things that have already been said, but I thought the very idea of ''is a book for children so it can not talk about serious topics in depth'' or ‘’we can not talk about complex issues in a children's book’’ is it so absurd? It's a vague way of thinking, are you also saying that young children are not able to understand the idea that gay kids or persons of color exist? When many of those who read these books are children who are discovering themselves, many are children of color who read the books! And the idea of giving them a "half" representation bothers me a lot.
And seriously, you don't have to feel personally offended when it's talk about Riordan and his little knowledge about certain subjects in which he is clearly ignorant.
