I can't improve on my write-up on this song's author provided in my earlier cover three years ago of his "Till the Wine Is Gone", so if you'd like a little context, you can find it gushing all over that video. But "This Is Not My Life" was one of Rick Keating's other hits, standouts among a repertoire of many, many extremely solid original folksongs. Who among us never feels from time to time that we've drifted out of the intended lane for our life and have been spinning our wheels living someone else's? I have been slipping my pace this year, so I put in a cram session the other day and recorded ten tunes that I ought to get around to enshrining in the record, sharing for no particular reason and apropos of nothing. This is the first of them.
