RIP Rose Marie. I’m on the right, handing something to Rick Dees who hosted a chocolate mousse recipe contest at Robinson’s department store in the early-ish ‘80s where Rose Marie was a judge (along with culinary stars Nancy Silverton and Michel Richard). (The contest was for artist Stuart Moskowitz’s “Too-Loose the Chocolate Moose,” who was made into a plush toy.) Rose Marie was a great broad—I loved meeting her—and I use broad in the best way possible. I appreciate now that she broke ground as an on-screen career woman. #rip #rosemarie #thedickvandykeshow #sallyrogers #rickdees (at West Hollywood, California)
Dubai 92 FM was and is my kind of Radio Station. It played every genre, old and new. If I'm not mistaken it was the first English Radio Station to air in Dubai back in the day. But what made it iconic (to me at least) was ‘Rick Dees Weekly Top 40′ which was broadcasted from the United States. I will never forget that voice and that jingle by Monalisa Young ‘Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 YEEEEEEAAAAAAHH!!!’ (admit it, you sang it) Here’s a montage that I found of his famous jingles. My favourite one was the opera segment. Ah, nostalgia at it’s best. He’s the reason I knew all about country music. The good kind. He was a part of my childhood and I bet everyone else’s who lived or still lives here in Dubai. I salut you, Rick Dees.
