This customer stripped his 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 down the the bare wood decades ago when he was younger and decided he wanted to bring it back to life and make it look like it did when it was new. Thankfully the original color was still in the pickup and control cavities so we were able to match it exactly. A rare 1968 #Rickenbacker #4001 for #thumpinthursday, spotted at @capsulemusic #Toronto. This is 1 of only 83 #fireglo 4001 models made in '68 and it's in fine condition! . PS: I know there is at least one more of the eighty three 1968 fireglos in Toronto, because I consulted my bass bible (@geddyimages's #BigBeautifulBookofBass) to learn more about the 4001 and saw that Geddy also has a '68 in fireglo in his collection (see page 220). Of course Geddy also has a '68 in mapleglo. And a '64 in fireglo. And a '69 in fireglo. And a '68 in burgundyglo...now that's gotta be even rarer!.
