Movies and Kisses
Luke stuffed his phone in his pocket, and ruffled his hair. He paced around for a bit, not wanting Rick to know he was already so close, just waiting for the opportunity to talk. He looked up at Rick’s house and sighed. His feeling were still in disarray and he didn’t know what…
“Sure,” Luke replied, stepping in and glancing around. He was having deja vu from last night, and he messed around with his hair to try and shake out the memories.
Rick moved into the kitchen, watching Luke take a seat on the counter. Rick fixed up the coffee and handed it to Luke. “So, Elle came over today…”
Luke remained as chipper as before, not letting anything hurt him. “Oh, did you work out your problems?” he said before taking a sip of the coffee.
“You could say that… We, um… we had sex.”
Luke grinned at him. “So you finally got it in with Elle. Good for you.” On the inside it hurt to know this. He continued to sip the coffee and watch Rick over the top of the mug, trying to read his face.
“Well, normally I’d be happy, but when I asked her if it could become more permanent, she said that she wasn’t sure because we had a mutual friend who had feelings for me, and she didn’t want to get in the way.”
Rick put down his coffee and ran his hands through his hair. “Now, I have nothing going on with Rowen, and Flick and I agreed that we weren’t going to have sex anymore. So came the confession that it was a guy who was crushing on me. Now, Callum is completely straight, so it couldn’t be him. Xavier doesn’t like me, so I highly doubt it’s him. And Dimitri has been on vacation for a good bit now, and we haven’t talked. Do you see where I’m going with this?”
Luke gave a big swallow, and looked into his mug. He kept staring at it like it was the most interesting thing in the world. He didn’t dare look up at Rick. “Yeah, I think so.” he squeaked out, shying away from him.
“So… do you like me? Are you the reason Elle won’t say yes to being with me?” Rick watched Luke intently, waiting for some kind of sign. But Luke’s eyes stayed firmly fixed on his cup. Several moments passed, with no movement.
“Luke, answer me!” Rick roared, getting angry.
“I-I really don’t know.” he told Rick, his eyes still looking into the mug. “I m-mean Elle could go out with you, I had only told her that I kinda liked you but nothing serious was happening.” Luke felt the tears welling up and he looked up and opened his eyes wide. “Oh god, I didn’t want this to be the way you found out.” Luke was trying hard to cry, but he could feel his throat closing. He’d hurt Elle by not letting her be with Rick, and he’d hurt Rick by not letting him be with Elle.
“Then that settles it,” Rick said. He took two steps forward and pressed his lips to Luke’s, his hands sliding into Luke’s hair and onto his chest.
Luke was shocked. He didn’t know where to put his hands. Finally he placed them on Rick’s hips. He broke the kiss for a minute. “B-but what about Elle?” he asked, feeling his face flush.
“Truth is, I like you Luke. I just… I thought maybe if I tried to get with Elle, something more permanent, maybe I would forget how I felt. I’m not… I don’t want this to be public. I can’t. But I can’t fight how I feel about you. Not anymore.”
“You were looking for a beard.” Luke said, smirking at him. He pulled him in for another gentle kiss.
“Don’t make me feel like shit for using her,” Rick said. “I already feel bad enough. I wanted her first time to mean something.” He leaned back in, kissing Luke again.
“This feels good. Being with you, it feels good. But I’m not gay. I… it’s just you. I think that’s why we fight all the time.”
Luke looked up into Rick’s eye. “You weren’t using her. I think you may genuinely like her.” He sighed. “but yeah, it does feel nice. I feel the same way. I don’t think I’m gay, I just think it’s you.”
“Well, I’m glad we could get our things sorted,” Rick said, smiling back at Luke. He kissed Luke again, caressing Luke’s neck, trying to work out all the knots and kinks.
Luke ran his fingers through Rick’s soft hair. He stopped himself from smiling, remembering how that finished the kiss off quickly. He caressed Rick’s face, tracing little lines along his jaw.
Rick ran his tongue along Luke’s lip, asking for entrance, and Luke granted it. He pulled Luke in closer, running hands up and down his back. “I like this, a lot.”
Luke tried to stifle a little moan, but it got out. He bit his bottom lip and nodded. “I really like this too.” he said, before leaning in for another kiss.
Rick was nervous, not sure what to do, so he just returned Luke’s kisses.
Luke pulled away, and scratched his wrist nervously. “This is really odd. I haven’t got the slightest idea of what to do.” he told Rick honestly.
Rick let out a nervous laugh. “Neither do I. I… I’ve never been in this situation before. I normally always know what to do.”
Luke laughed. “It’s always been girls on the other end of my kisses, not my best mate.”
Rick winced. “Ah, it’s so weird to hear you say that. Maybe we could just watch a movie or something? Dad got a new blu-ray player for the cinema room.”
Luke shrugged. “Sure, I’m up for a movie.” He let Rick lead the way, not wanting to seem too forward.
Rick pulled out the cabinets from the wall. “What do you wanna watch? We’ve got… well, everything.”
“Have you got Edward Scissorhands? I haven’t seen that movie in ages.” Luke sat down and looked at Rick look through the cabinets.
Rick pulled out the cabinets from the wall. “What do you wanna watch? We’ve got… well, everything.”
“Have you got Edward Scissorhands? I haven’t seen that movie in ages.” Luke sat down and looked at Rick look through the cabinets.
“Would you be offended if I told you I don’t wanna watch it? I tried watching that movie sober, drunk and high, and I still didn’t get it.”
“Haha, it’s fine. Pick whichever you like.”
“How about… Sleepy Hollow? Still got Johnny Depp being weird,” Rick said, turning to look at Luke. Rick had this churning feeling inside, and he realized that he really wanted Luke to be pleased with his suggestion. Rick felt weird, because he’d never wanted that from anybody.
“I’ve never seen it. I’d love to watch it. Johnny Depp is a great actor.” Luke gave a warm smile to Rick. He couldn’t wait to sit next to him and watch them movie. The very thought sent him blushing. He watched Rick move toward the DVD player and admired the way he carried himself. Luke still couldn’t understand how he was attracted to Rick, but he still felt the butterflies in his stomach.
Rick turned the movie on and joined Luke. He didn’t know whether he should cuddle Luke or if Luke should cuddle him, so Rick just sat down, waiting for Luke to make the first move. How did this work anyways? Who was the “male” in the situation?
Luke prayed that this wouldn’t be as awkward as he imagined it to be. He inched closer to Rick, and placed his hand lightly on Rick’s lap. He looked at Rick quickly, trying to look for any signs of embarrassment.
Rick felt his cheeks burn. He reached down and took Luke’s hand in his, lacing their fingers together. He could handle holding hands with Luke.
Luke took a deep breath. The hand holding was all he can do for now. He watched the movie in silence, occasionally taking looks at Rick to see how he was doing. This was completely new to him, but it felt so right. He relaxed and took deep breaths, trying not to let Rick notice his nervousness.
Rick was really enjoying this, but he could tell Luke was nervous. He stretched his arm and put it around Luke’s shoulders, hoping that Luke would be okay with it.
Luke settled into the crook of Rick’s arm. He tilted his head up and whispered into Rick’s ear, “This is one of the best movies I’ve seen.” He then focused on the movie more ardently than before, so his nervousness would disappear.
Rick loved the feeling of Luke this close to him. He reached down and tilted Luke’s chin up to his. Rick looked down at Luke, just admiring his face. He leaned down and pressed his lips to Luke’s again.
Luke could feel the fluttery feeling in his stomach start up again as he leaned into Rick’s kiss. He put one hand on Rick’s shoulder, trying to steady himself from the sudden dizziness he felt.
Rick held Luke, feeling his weight fall a bit on his arm. He liked supporting Luke. So he must be the man in the situation. Rick could definitely handle that.
Luke pulled away from the kiss. “Your kisses are the best.” he said before gently kissing Rick again. Luke always knew he was sensitive, but he never thought he would be the recessive one in a relationship.
“Well, I do have a reputation to maintain,” Rick said, grinning down at Luke. “I’m gonna grab a drink. Do you want something?”
Luke nodded. “Jack is fine. Do you want me to come with you?” he asked, not even paying attention to the movie anymore.
“I mean, I got it…” Rick looked down at Luke. “Come with me.”
Luke paused the movie and stood up. He followed Rick to his stash of alcohol, and marveled at it. “It never fails to amaze me how much booze you’ve got.”
“Well, I do drink a lot,” Rick said. “Does it bother you?”
Rick looked at Luke. He’d always wondered, but he’d never had the balls to ask anyone. He always tried to make it look like he didn’t care about what people thought and how people felt about him.
“Not really. You do what you want to do. If you want to drink, go ahead and drink. If not, not.” Luke said honestly.
In all honesty, he did worry about what Rick was doing, but he knew Rick was grown enough to make his own decisions. Besides, drunk Rick was always fun.
“Luke, be honest with me. You know honesty matters to me. Does it bother you?” Rick could tell if Luke was lying, and Luke had definitely just told him a lie.
“Honestly, I do worry about your drinking sometimes, but you’re grown enough to make your own decisions. Like yesterday. I made the decision to smoke weed even though I might’ve become addicted, but I’m grown enough to make my own decisions. Plus,” Luke paused and smirked at Rick, “drunk you is always fun.”
“Okay. Thanks for being honest. But hey, can I make you something a little special, rather than just normal old Jack?”
“Sure. I’m open to anything really.”
“I think you’ll like this,” Rick said. He’d been taking online bartending lessons, it was something he was very interested it. He grabbed a bottle of Rittenhouse 100 from his collection and walked over to the bar. He grabbed two glasses, putting a sugar cube in each. He shook some Angostura sours into the cups. He pressed the sugar cube and sours together. He then poured two shots of rye into each and mixed everything together. He grabbed an orange from the fridge and peeled of a piece of the rind. Squeezing the juice into the cup, he dropped in the zest. “Try that.”
Luke brought the cup to his lips and took a sip. He squeezed his eyes. “Wow that’s strong.” He took another sip. “Considering how much of a lightweight I am, I’m going to be drunk very soon. Luckily it’s with this drink.” he held it up in cheers.
Rick took a sip from his. He liked it. “Maybe we’ll stick with Jack next time,” Rick said with a chuckle.
Luke laughed. “Either way, I’m going to be drunk and spooning a toilet.” He drank more of the drink and let the alcohol spill over him. He was definitely going to get drunk.
“Luke, you don’t have to get drunk every time we’re together. I just want to be with you right now,” Rick said, taking the cup from Luke’s hands and kissing him again.
Luke smiled into the kiss. “I know, I know. Things just seem so much more fun when you’re drunk. I won’t be doing it often, it’s just this weekend has been a lot more…non-Lukey oriented. More of the life I chose to avoid when I play Tetris in corners.”
“Well, being drunk can be fun, but it can be a hell hole too. Just, don’t get too non-Lukey. This weekend is not the Luke that I started to like.”
Luke smiled and pressed another kiss to Rick’s lips. “I promise I’ll stay as Lukey as I can be.”
“Thanks. I like Lukey. He’s sweet,” Rick said.
Luke hugged Rick. “And I like Rick. He’s great.”
“Back to our movie?” Rick asked, taking Luke’s hand in his.
Luke smiled and nodded. He walked back to the cinema room with Rick’s hand in his. It felt right to have his fingers intertwined with Rick’s. This was the way things were supposed to be.
Luke and Rick resumed the movie, drinks in hand. They cuddled up in the cinema room, and before he knew it, Rick was asleep in Luke’s arms.
