5. Share one of your strengths.

I meannnn.  I’m not trying to be super humble by saying this but writing is hard enough for me that it is difficult to think of strengths.  But—turning a weakness into a strength here, because I often feel like everything comes out too short, but I say a lot with a little sometimes.

7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

They say she is very old, they say she has had many lives and may have many more, but all she remembers is this. All she remembers is waking up, small and hungry and alone, until Dyson plucks her out of a bush and brings her to Kenzi and then she is only small.

from Better Men Have Hit Their Knees and Bigger Men Have Died.  I had been wanting to write about Tamsin for months and months and then Baby Tamsin happened and in theory, I would like to have written a much longer story about her.  But this came at a time when I was having more trouble writing than usual, and I felt really good about it.

“Would you really have stayed in that castle alone on the mountain forever?” Anna asks. “What would you have done all day?”

“I hadn’t decided yet,” Elsa tells her, and remembers the rush of freedom that chased everything else away.

Anna asks, “What would you have eaten?”

“Snow crab,” Elsa says, and Anna laughs and laughs.

Probably anything I ever wrote about Gossip Girl, if I ever felt like I could write about GG again.
