✕     Black boots skid to a halt against shining wet pavement when the black field blocked her path — in front of her, behind her… to her sides as well. Arabella whipped around at the voice, dark hair flying, to see the odd face that was being created. Three lines…? That was all she was going to see?

“If I’m going to be killed by some shadowy fuck without even a face, then I don’t want to live in this world anyway,” she complained to herself with a scowl, yanking her knives off her belt. 

Could she even stab or slash it? Probably not. Might as well give it a go, though.
