So... I feel like I need to bring this up...
To a lot of people that don’t know me online, I have a very “work hard” mentality. That probably comes from the 5+ years of marching band and me having seen a lot of different things in the 21 years I've been alive. The thing is, it still surprises me how a lot of people can act so disrespectful to other people, so arrogant to others that it just rubs me and many other people the wrong way, but me especially since I've learned one thing “Respect is everything” and this one person who I’m not going to mention by name cause that would give him more publicity than he needs. But for anyone who wants to know where this , this is a person in the “Rift Cafe”. Unsurprisingly enough, that seems to be a place where I seem to find a lot of these people lately.
Now I’m not going to go to into the conversation but the main topic he just brought up was “Why is Fuck a bad word?” Already you can tell I’m face-palming because who honestly doesn't know it’s a bad word? I mean he kept on using things like “Well my friends say it all the time” Well that’s fine as long as you don’t direct it at someone you don’t know. Oh yeah this guy also doesn't know the what “context” means apparently, so that just made this conversation harder to sit through. He also said “But my boss uses that word all the time” Well then your boss probably shouldn't be the boss. I don’t know about where he lives or something like that but it’s usually very unprofessional for a boss of a workplace to casually throw curse words here in America.... well except for some parts. Course again this is just me in my professional mindset, cause just in one year I learned not to curse... why? Cause if I curse during rehearsal I push the earth, and I don’t want to do that more than I have to. That and I've learn that in a professional environment, you won’t be generally accepted if you curse in the workplace, you’ll just be fired most likely. Now after you've been with a company for a while and have people you know, sure you can say what you want... outside the workplace. Again this might be just me and the way I was personally raised, but just know saying that word just doesn't mean you’ll get that far outside of working at that gas station at the corner of the street.
After a bit of pointless arguing and some misinformation he said “This is what’s wrong with political correctness today...” It’s not so much political correctness as much as it is common decency, there are people that don’t like to use that word for personal reasons. AND THAT’S FINE. If people you see in a chat or conversation you see don’t like that word, then don’t bring it up to them. Also understand I curse too... a lot, I just don’t direct it at people that often or say it if someone doesn't like the word. I only use it with close friends, like really close friends when I’m joking with them, and that too is fine. IT ALL DEPENDS ON CONTEXT. I know that it was his opinion and he’s entitled to have that opinion. However, just because he has an opinion doesn't mean it’s 100% right.
That’s about all I have to say on the matter. The dude was acting inconsiderate and unprofessional in my eyes and I just needed to post something about it. I’m just tired of seeing people like that pop out of the blue and just sort of ruin that environment. Course, let it be known that in the entire Rift Cafe, it was only one person out of like 100, that’s a lot better than how it has been in the past.
