I Thought It Was Love Until I Let Go
I thought I was loved the right way. For the longest time, I believed that love meant accepting every part of someone else—even the parts that hurt, the parts that made me feel small. I thought that love was tolerance, patience, and swallowing my own needs to keep the peace. I convinced myself that my love could bridge the gap, that my efforts could make things better.
But then I chose to detach, to distance myself, and finally, to let go. And it was in that space, in the quiet that followed, I saw things clearly: real love doesn’t require me to forget that I, too, am worthy of love as I am. Real love doesn’t make me reshape myself to fit an image, doesn’t ask me to overexplain, or to tolerate being misunderstood. Real love doesn’t make me feel like I’m ‘too much’ or ‘not enough.’
So here I am, realizing that sometimes, love isn’t about holding on. Sometimes, it's about stepping back and finding peace with yourself. And maybe letting go is the most loving thing I can do for us both.
To anyone who has been there—who thought they were loved right, only to discover their worth in walking away—this is for us. Sending love and light, to myself and to you. Because we deserve it.
I just want someone who will treat me with softness in this world where you need to be strong all the time.
I’ll always believe we were right lovers, wrong timing.
The right one won't give up on you.
