Rihi and Chibitalia as I see them in my fic-in-progress. Due to the poor circumstances surrounding her formation, Rihi is meant to be quite malnourished and gaunt, but I’m skill issued so it doesn’t really come through.

Uhhhhh ok long post ahead. My nonsense ramblings on 1720verse Rihitalia and RihiLutz and the vague timeline of events starting from Lutz's birth. I'm so fuckingggg normal about them holy shit.

Lutz and Rihi first met sometime in the decades before WWl, and Lutz was still quite small, though bigger than expected for someone who was just born. Rihi isn't used to being around someone younger than her, so she's very awkward, and Lutz is also super stiff, but Rihi ends up calling him Lutzi and Lutz gets flustered. They don't get very close as WWl eventually dawns and Rihi sticks close to AusHun.

Thru 1&2 Rihi is scared of Lutz for obvious reasons and only catches glimpses of him in WWll during her time with Basch and he's doing business with Germany. Rihi doesn't like this fact but never objects because Big Brother Knows Best. No specifics because I haven't gotten to this part in history yet. But in these years she kinda mainly sees him as someone who Alice has 'left her for'.

Rihi last met Alice when she ended up impulsively coming to Liechten at the end of the Austro-Prussian war in 1866 as part of that one legend, but also isn't in a great state bc of said war. Their reunion starts off rlly nice but it quickly gets awkward and weird because of Liechten's strong affiliation with AusHun, and they kinda sorta argue not really but either way it's not good and it ends with both of them upset and that's when they stop writing letters to each other. Or Rihi sends a few letters to Alice, but stops getting responses. Critical Hit. Then in WWl AusHun is against Italy which makes things 10x worse. It's also in this bad mindstate with an Alice-shaped void where she starts getting attached to Basch. More on that Eventually.

Thennnn WWll happens and Rihi sticks by Basch. She sees Italy is affiliated with Germany who she is now terrified of and. Ouhough boy. So. She obviously doesn't like him. Obviously. She also (wrongly and unreasonably) sees herself as partially responsible for Alice going to Lutz due to The Argument back in 1866 and also her affiliation w AusHun. She doesn't know the full picture and neither do I. Yet. I need to do more reading. Catastrophizer 9000. All of this is a massive part as to why things are so weird and tense between them in present day. Anyway. WWll ends and decades pass and now there are world meetings <- no details yet because again. I am lacking in research. I also have thoughts on how Alice being AFAB and also gendercurious (severely suppressed) would complicate her role in WWll but that is Also for Eventually when I get to that point of research. Feli being trans is very important believe meeeee!!!!

Liechten's attendance is mostly optional, but Rihi finds herself tagging along anyway because she thinks it's important and also Basch's attendance is mandatory. It's here where she sees Alice. Or rather, Feliciano. Sorta. Not yet. I think Alice starts inching towards presenting more gnc in the 60s but sdfghdshdhd more on that Eventually. Rihi starts seeing Alice again and it's like. Ohgodohfuck. They haven't interacted since 1866 and she doesn't know how Alice feels about her and she doesn't know how tof feel about Alice. Regardless, this is where she starts obsessively observing her. Alice also kinda looks her way sometimes but Rihi can't read her properly. She thinks Alice lwk hates her. Catastrophizer 9000. Little does she know, Alice ALSO thinks that Rihi hates her. Understandably. Catastrophizer 10000. Their interactions are limited to greetings. Alice starts referring to Rihi by her country name rather than Erika as she used to, and Rihi responds likewise. No one would be able to tell they had any sort of history w each other.

And it's at these meetings where Rihi starts seeing how Alice acts around Lutz and Kiku. Touchy, jokey, loud. It reminds her of how she used to act with Rihi and ouuugh. Very terrible for Rihi's self esteem. She has new friends now, and the scary Lutz is one of them. This is the only view she has of Lutz aside from scary and intimidating. She kinda compares herself to him. Does Alice like him because he's strong? Rihi is nothing like him—she's weak and dependant. She can't do anything for her, so she thinks. Terrible.

Now.

Rihi's first proper face 2 face meeting with Lutz again is in 2005, with the Meeting of the Heads of state of German-speaking countries which in this universe the reps also attend. This is the man who helped wreak havoc on the world and 'took Alice from her' and he's very Strong and Intimidating. He's also the little Lutzi she'd met all those centuries ago. The mood in the gathering is very tense and weird bc Austria, Germany, Switz, and Liechten are the only attendants. Basch obviously doesn't like Roderich or Lutz and Roderich likewise is a bit insufferable, and Rihi and Lutz are caught in-between them.

Lutz separates himself from the SwissAus beef, and awkwardly ends up outside with Rihi. This is their first real interaction since the 1840s. It is extremely awkward and extremely stiff and all Rihi can think of when she sees him is Alice. Meanwhile Lutz knows vaguely of Rihi's history w Alice because Alice couldn't help but reminisce about her to him, even after their fallout. What gets them properly talking about Something is a passerby who's walking their dog. They end up playing with the dog and Rihi sees an unexpected side of Lutz. They don't get close or anything but Rihi does soften her image of him a bit, and is reminded of when they did something similar together back in the (18)40s.

Over the next few years, Rihi has more little interactions with Lutz at the German-speaking meetings and then eventually the World Meetings and ends up slowly learning more about and spending time with him, to Basch's chagrin. This kinda makes her anxiety about Alice worse though because she can see why Alice would like him and she gets like. Crazy inferiority especially because he's younger than her.

Rihi kind of ends up slipping into a bit of an "older sister" role. Sorta. Not really. Just a bit. It's hard to explain but having lived her life seeing herself as a "little sister" as I've spoken about in this post, her relationship with Lutz kinda puts a wedge in that whole thing as she's like. Properly actually building a relationshop with someone of her ilk who's younger than/about the same age as her rather than someone significantly older/someone she treats as being significantly older. While she gets insecure, she doesn't put Lutz on a pedestal the way she does Basch or Alice, and doesn't see him as a role model because WWll has already cemented him in her mind as being someone who is deeply flawed and can do and has done terrible things. Basically: She sees him as a person lmao.

And likewise, Lutz doesn't have many friends outside of Feli and Kiku, and thus ends up enjoying Rihi's company through all the awkwardness. He subconsciously likes that she doesn't see him as a figure of authority and that their friendship started outside the context of war. Also I see Lutz as someone who'd been forced to grow up too fast, so he would enjoy her subtle doting. He kinda lets himself a be a bit looser around her, and he ends up slipping out of being super stern and serious much easier.

I think it would maybeeee be around 2010?? When Alice starts going by Feliciano and living as a man. Rihi finds this out from Lutz and up to that point he'd been presenting more and more masculine. And it makes sense to Rihi. Hindsight is 20/20 and it lines up with some stuff she remembers from the 1700s. She is happy that he's happier with himself, but feels really weird about change. In her mind, his transition kinda (incorrectly I should say) cements the loss of their relationship in the way it had once been and any possibility of rekindling because. He's changed. He's changed so much and they've been distant for so long that surely by this point all hope is lost. In her mind, again, Rihi believes that he's fully moved on from her while she's still stuck yearning like crazy. Terrible.

So. She continues to yearn. And so does Feli, because he's kinda also in the same state of mind as her. "What if she doesn't want to be friends with me anymore because I'm a man????" "It's been so long and she's so cute surely she's super popular and has a bunch of other friends????" "We've been distant for centuries!!! I can't just go up to her now!??!!?? She totally hates me!!!" Lutz assures Feli that she wouldn't hate him and that he's assuming the worst. Lutz would be the one to kinda vaguely nudge them into a proper reunion, I think.

Feli ends up approaching her first and things always are extremely awkward as everything always is in this fucking verse. They attempt to dance around the big damn elephants in the room but they end up crashing into them anyway. It's a long and weird process but they slowly start to talk properly again, clear up their misconceptions, and talk about the past centuries. They talk about all that's changed and what's stayed the same, and eventually get to the point where they can comfortably reminisce. Lutz being the bridge between them also gets very closely intertwined, and they kinda end up being a set. More details in the next episode of Dragonball Z.

I've been contemplating and writing this for like four hours I need to stop now before I seriously ignore my work any further. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk for a trio that only exists to Me. Sorry Kiku.
